INTRODUCTION
Management is a comprehensive term. It means much more than
organization and administration. Management means to run, handle, conduct or
control. It provides guidance and direction to individual in relation to
organization and tries to link up different aspects. The word management has
three different connotations. It is used as an academic discipline. As a noun, it
implies those individuals who exercise leadership in an educational institution
i.e. it refers to managers, principals, teachers, students, parents and community
and so forth. As a process, it refers to planning, organizing, staffing, directing,
budgeting and controlling. As an academic discipline, it refers to a systematic
body of knowledge of concepts, theories, laws and application in practice. It may
be understood as the art of: getting work done, within the given budget, within
the given time frame and so to as accomplish individual and institutional goals.
Keeping in view the general concept of ‘Management’. Management of
education is defined as the process of planning, organizing, directing and
controlling the activities of an institution by utilizing human and material
resources so as to effectively and efficiently accomplish the function of teaching,
extension work and research.
CONTENT
Event planning is the process of planning a festival, ceremony, competition,
party, concert or convention. Event planning can include budgeting, establishing
dates and alternate dates, selecting and reserving the event site, acquiring permits
(alcohol permits, insurance licenses, etc.) coordinating transportation and
parking, developing a theme or motif for the event, arranging for speakers and
alternate speakers, coordinating location support (such as electricity and other
utilities) and security, catering, emergency plans, aid stations, and clean up.
Event management is the application of project management to this process.
The industry now includes events of all sizes from the Olympics down to a
breakfast meeting for ten business people. Many industries, charitable
organizations, and interest groups will hold events of some size in order to
market themselves, build business relationships, raise money or celebrate.
Event management is considered one of the strategic marketing and
communication tools by companies of all sizes. From product launches to press
conferences, companies create promotional events to help them communicate
with clients and potential clients. A number of elements such as music , live
entertainment or even the particular venue that may be used to influence the tone
and atmosphere of an event.
Event managers may also use news media to target their audience, hoping to
generate media coverage which will reach thousands or millions of people. They
can also invite their audience to their events and reach them at the actual event.
The event manager is the person who plans and executes the event, taking
responsibility for the creative, technical and logistical elements. This includes
overall event design, brand building, marketing and communication strategy,
audio-visual production, script writing, logistics, budgeting, negotiation and
client service.
There are an interesting number of universities which offer courses in event
management, including diplomas and graduate degrees. In addition to these
academic courses, there are many associations and societies that provide courses
on the various aspects of the industry. Study includes organizational skills,
technical knowledge, P.R, marketing, advertising, catering, logistics, décor,
glamour identity, human relations, study of law and licenses, risk management,
budgeting, study of allied industries like television, other media and several other
areas. Certification can be acquired from various sources to obtain designations
such as Certified Trade Show Marketer (CTSM), Certified Manager of Exhibits
(CME), Certified in Exhibition Management (CEM), Global Certification in
Meeting Management (CMM), Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) and the
Certified Special Event Professional (CSEP).
Event Management, an International Journal, intends to meet the research
and analytic needs of a rapidly growing profession focused on events. This field
has developed in size and impact globally to become a major business with
numerous dedicated facilities, and a large-scale generator of tourism. The field
encompasses meetings, conventions, festivals, expositions, sport and other
special events. Event management is also of considerable importance to
government agencies and not-for-profit organizations in a pursuit of a variety of
goals, including fund-raising, the fostering of causes, and community
development.
Event Management aims to be the leading source of research reports and
analysis related to all forms of event management. This journal publishes
refereed and invited articles, book reviews, and documentation of news and
trends. It also invites opinion pieces, profiles of organizations, and management
case studies.
Event Management is governed by an international editorial board
consisting of experts in event management and related fields. This board
conducts most of the manuscript reviews and therefore plays a large role in
setting the standards for research and publication in the field. The Co-Editors-in-
Chief receive and process all manuscripts, from time to time modify the editorial
board, and work to ensure a continuous improvement in quality.
CONCLUSION
Event management is the management for planning a festival, ceremony,
competition, party, concert or convention. Events management is very
important, especially in holding a festival. It has a vital role in a festival because
it will represent the image of the festival itself and the place of the festival, which
is either be accepted or not by the guests ,visitors ,tourists and other people. The
most important thing to do is to established a vision of what to be achieved,
careful planning and preparation, high level objectives to be undertaken and
lastly, effective promotion of the event/festival to encourage more visitors to
come and accept the festival. School is one of the most important social
institutions to serve the society for the specialized teaching of young.
Management means to run, handle, conduct or control. It provides guidance and
direction to individual in relation to organization and tries to link up different
aspects. It plays a crucial role in the moulding of the society, which builds it. In
fact the function of developing the future citizens is entrusted to the schools. The
teachers should understand the need for efficient management of schools.
Management, being a social process, lays its major emphasis on the interaction of
people-people inside and outside the institutions and people above and below
one’s operational position. Management is mainly deterministic in nature and
lays down broad policies and programmes.
