LILAS PERFUMED CHOCOLATE

Select or create a chocolate company to brand. The branding includes the company’s logo, campaign, packaging, and website.

The company I chose is called Lilas, a high-end per-fumed chocolate brand from France, whose main cli-ent is middle-class females. My goal is to introduce the elegance of Lilas Chocolate to the U.S market.

CRISIS OF REFINANCING

Rebrand a non-profit organization and come up with a merchandising strategy and Ad campaign.

The organization I chose is called NFCC. It promotes the national agenda for financially responsible behavior, and builds capacity for its members to deliver a high quality financial education and counseling services. My concept is to introduce the problem by using incomplete geo-metric shapes, which represent the idea of debt. It is a very common problem in United States, but as long as it exists, the individual’s life wouldn’t be complete.

GREEN HARMONY

Create an identity system for a community-oriented new studio called Green Harmony.

The concept behind the logo is green and people. To incorporate the idea into my design, I created a graphic based on the company’s initials, g and h, symboizing people reaching out his hand to others, which matches the company’s aim—to help the community. I also chose the color green because they are a environmen-tally friendly company, and green tends to give the audi-ence a natury, greenpeace feel.

Create a visual engaging campaign for a social issue.

The topic I chose for this project is drug abuse. My concept is to show the audience that over-using drugs might not affect one’s health right away, but it will kill one over time.

STERN GROVE FESTIVAL

Create a series of postcards for a music festival here in San Francisco. The postcards have to indicate the date of the event and some basic information.

Through my research, I found the music being played at the event is mostly relaxing, and happy. I wanted to cre-ate postcards that show the positive energy of the event. My solution is to use vivid colors to visually communi-cate the feeling of happiness. And the circles represent the vibration of sound.

LIFE’S TOO F***ING SHORT

Redesign a book cover to better represent its content.

Life’s Too F***ing Short is a self help book dealing with depression. My concept is to use vivid colors to represent beautiful things in one’s life. The line is a metaphor of life line and each circle is a stop in life. The idea of using circle continues to the text in each chapter opener.

Design a book based on a natural phenomenon.

The natural phenomenon I picked is thunderstorms. The keywords I chose are rage, destroy, and combination. All of the design are based on the keywords I picked.

THE NEW VISION

Create two posters and a book based on two type designs from a specifi c era.

The time period I chose is Bauhaus, and the fonts I chose are Koloss and Erbar. I was inspired by the architectural style, and the 45 degree diagonal lines, and that is what I based my design on.
