SUMMARY

I am a 25-year-old Coloured Female. I have 3 years’ experience in Human Resources, as well as Health and Safety. I have a Bachelor of Social Sciences Degree in Industrial Psychology and Industrial Organizational and Labour Studies, as well as an Honour’s Degree in the same field. At Honour’s level I specialized in Labour Relations. I therefore have a sound knowledge of the Labour legislation of South Africa as well as the various Acts that uphold it.

I am currently employed at Parachute Industries of Southern Africa as Human Resources Manager. Zodiac Aerospace is a world leader in Aerospace equipment and systems for commercial, regional and business aircraft. Parachute Industries is a division of the Group which manufactures Parachute systems.

I am responsible for the following at Parachute Industries of Southern Africa:

Participate in the strategic planning process. Highlighting and forecasting all Human Resource related needs

Complete statutory reports for the issuing of legal documents. These include: BEE Certification, and

Employment Equity Reports and Workplace Skills Plan

Ensure accurate job descriptions are in place

Provide advice and assistance with writing job descriptions

Provide advice and assistance when conducting staff performance evaluations

Identifying training and development opportunities

Organising staff training sessions, workshops and activities

Liaise with the relevant SETA’s to obtain funding for training initiatives

Process employee requests for outside training while complying with policies and procedures

Provide basic counselling to staff who have performance related obstacles

Provide advice and assistance in developing human resource plans

Conduct staff orientations

Access funding for training and write proposals

Monitor daily attendance and introduced an attendance improvement plan

Investigate and understand causes for staff absences

Recommend solutions to resolve chronic attendance difficulties

Provide advice and recommendations on disciplinary actions

Monitor scheduled absences such as holidays or travel and coordinate actions to ensure staff absence has

been adequately covered off to ensure continuity of services

Provide advice and assistance to supervisors on staff recruitment. Prepare, develop, and implement

procedures and policies on staff recruitment

Prepare notices and advertisements for vacant staff positions

Schedule and organise interviews

Participate in applicant interviews

Conduct reference checks on possible candidates

I was originally employed as a Human Resources Administrator; however, I was promoted to Human Resources Coordinator due to the fact that the Human Resources Manager had resigned. Although I do not have Formal Qualifications as a Health and Safety Coordinator, I embarked on improving the Health, Safety and wellbeing of the employees.
