Financial report Treasurer Paul Emmerson presented his report – the Club’s balance stands at $2,733.11. Acceptance of the financial report was moved by Matt Piatkowski and seconded by Stuart Henderson – carried.
Club Business
Club flying field Matt Piatkowski noted that there is a radial crack in the flying circle across the asphalt close to the pit/take-off area which should be fixed.
Naomi noted that the flier’s circle is raised too far above the grass - this resulted in her previous broken ankle.
2021 Stunt World Championships
Matt Piatkowski reported that the 2021 Stunt World Championships have been rescheduled for August 9-15 in Poland – provisionally, this will be a ‘regular’ World Championship event.
MAAC assistance for contests and other events
Matt Piatkowski reported that the Zone Director, Adam Maas has offered MAAC assistance in the form of hats and T-shirts with MAAC logos which could be supplied in connection with contests or similar event
Matt asked the Club members to email their T-shirt sizes to him

Orient our new President to the concept of ‘motions’
Special feature – Workshop tour
Bill Bowmer gave us a virtual tour of the workshop in his self-built (recently) garage overlooking Buckhorn Lake. He showed us some of the models (in various stages of completion), related aeronautical paraphernalia, and other hobby projects that share this luxurious modelling den including:
1/2A Prowler with an O.S. .06
Sterling Spitfire (dwarfs his 50-year-old Guillows Spitfire)
‘Windy’ Spitfire
(as you can guess, Bill has a soft spot for the venerable Supermarine Spitfire)
cardboard Hurricane ready for painting
profile scale Citabria
Nobler
Pitts Special
2
engine collection, box of lines, box of props, boxes of this and boxes of that
many aviation-related photographs His model aeroplanes share the garage with an MG sports car, a Miata sports car belonging to Bill’s wife, and a vintage BSA motorcycle that belonged to his father.
Special feature – Winter builds
Len Bourel :
o Spitfire using a modified Banshee wing, Brodak .40, 53” wingspan, 35 oz without the motor, to be
covered with Polyspan (except tips) and then silkspan - Matt suggested that Polyspan could be
worked around the tips with wetting to provide some stretch and then ironing
o profile Shark Attack for an Evo .60
Naomi Macklem:
o Shark 402, LA .25, 26 oz, Naomi reports that it flies/manouvers VERY well despite being an
unflapped wing – this is going to be her ‘go-to’ model while she refines her stunt pattern
Dwayne Donnelly:
o full-body stunter based on a Legacy .40 wing with the remainder being self-designed, E-Flite .15
with active timer, 45oz, Ultracote covering with Rustoleum 2X (he noted that the colours are
fuelproof but not the clear)
Jack Nagao:
o full-body, reduced-size (400 sq in) Calamity Jane (1952 Australian design), built-up ribs, 30 oz, O.S.
.25 SF, transparent covering
o twin-engine scale Mitsubishi bomber, 42” wingspan, twin O.S. .15 Las, 38 oz, R/C throttle, acrylic
paint with oil-based varnish clearcoat
o Eurofighter canard jet, 70 mm electric EDF, 1/16” balsa skinned/fibreglassed fuselage over a foam
core
Richard Barlow:
o In connection with Jack’s Calamity Jane, Richard showed his Frog 500 engine from the U.K. He also
noted that he builds using magnets on a steel surface
Matt Piatkowski:
o modified Shark wing, Ro-Jett .76, ‘coloured’ wood covered with clear Doculam, switchable landing
gear(wing-mounted for hard surfaces and fuselage-mounted for grass)

Special feature – Some vintage stunters from the U.K. – Since Jack introduced the Calamity Jane (Australian) as one of his winter builds, I thought you might like to see some of the interesting styling of vintage U.K. stunters – short tail moment arms, no tail moment arms, plywood profile fuselages, circular cross-section fuselages, no landing gear, team race aesthetic……….. and the rather ‘normal’ (to our eyes) Ambassador. Engine sizes were commonly in the 3.5 –5.0 cc range (.21 - .30). I have a Frog 500 that will go nicely with a Mercury Musketeer (bears a passing resemblance to a Hawker Sea Fury - I don’t have a 3-view – just full size plans )
