Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians What a fantastic start to the school year! Our students have settled really well and are to be congratulated on their enthusiasm for learning and regular attendance. Our Preps are off to a flying start quickly settling into the routines of school life. It is great to see them coming in each day with big smiles on their faces. The start of a new school year brings with it new and exciting opportunities. We want all students to experience enjoyable learning opportunities and have positive memories of their school years. To build greater connectedness across the school this year we have implemented a Buddy Gradesystem which extends on our previous Year 6 - Prep buddy system. Every child across the school now has a buddy and all classes have a buddy grade. In previous years, it has been difficult to just remove the Year 6s from learning time to work with the Preps and help with their transition to school as it has impacted their learning time greatly. We now have processes in which all grades have scheduled buddy gradeactivity times. All classes will participate in learning activities and fun times together to help build friendships and learning across the school. All students have now met their buddy and completed a fun getting to know youactivity. Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students all brought their activity home to share. Years 3 - 6 students have created theirs in their digital portfolio which will be shared with parents later this term. The transition to multiage classrooms has been very effective with the older year levels assisting to settle and welcome the younger ones to that year level with their routines and structures already in place. This has allowed, in particular for students who have remained with their 2016 teacher, a much quicker and smoother start to the year. You will have received an email with a link asking you to complete a survey on reporting. Our Parent Opinion Survey data has shown that parents feel this is an area that we can improve in so please complete the survey if you would like to give us some feedback. The link was sent to parents whose email address we have. If you didnt receive an email, this means we dont have your current email address on file. You can still complete the survey which can be found at https://tinyurl.com/KPPSreportsurvey A reminder that bikes and scooters must be walked in the school grounds for the safety of all. Email address: [email protected] Friday 17th February 2017 Parent feedback is important to us in all areas. We aim to please so would love more feedback on how we can improve or what you feel we do well. There is a red post box at the front office labelled Parent Feedback, if you have any feedback at any time on any issue, please leave it in the post box. This fortnight’s focus is GETTING ALONG Getting along means working well with teachers and classmates, resolving problems peaceful-ly and contributing positively to the community. I can get along with other children, teachers and people in the community. When I am getting along:

I am a positive role model to people around me.

I show generosity and kindness.

I interact with people and show them respect.

I am helpful.

I demonstrate the best way to be a good friend, in the classroom and in the playground.

I am a friend to someone if they are alone at school.

I show manners wherever I go, especially when in school uniform.

I take pride in who I am, a Kingsley Park Kid.

Donations Needed The Carnival Committee still have a mammoth amount of planning and organisation to complete, with many items still left to purchase in order to make this event successful. If families could assist in donating any of the following items, it would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be left at the school office or by contacting any of the Committee members. Cans of coloured hairspray. Books, CD’s, DVD’s or old video games in good working order, that you

no longer require. (please NO trash or treasure items) Item that would be suitable for the mystery jars, things that your child

would be happy to win and small enough to go in a jar eg wrapped lollies, hair ties, marbles etc.

Class Stalls In the coming weeks, class teachers will be advised of which stalls they have been allocated. Parent volunteers on stalls will be vital in making the Carnival a success - shifts will be rostered in 30 minute blocks so please consider whether you could assist your child’s class. Your child’s teacher will communicate the details of their class stall with you.

The next meeting of the KP Group is :

Friday 24th March

Please join us in the Green Room for a cuppa and a chat !

All welcome !
