Class Management

In our classroom we use a traffic light to help monitor behaviour and attitudes. Students start each day at green and may change throughout the day.

Page 8: Meet the teacher 2012

Green- on task, focused and doing what they should be doing.

Yellow- a warning that a

behaviour needs to change

Red- behaviour needs to

change immediately. There

will be time to talk to the teacher and a note will be sent home.

Caught in the Act· Caught in the Act is a behavioural plan

that encourages and rewards students for seeing the positive in themselves and their peers.

· “Coupons” are award to students names who are drawn at the end of each week.

HomeworkStudents will have homework some

nights. This will teach them responsibility and time management.

Marks are lost if work is handed in late.

The most important homework a child has each night is to read!

Home Reading: Read Across Canada

· Students are expected to read for 15 minutes daily and log these minutes. The sheets will be returned to school weekly and tallied monthly. Each province has been designated a specific number of minutes on the map. Once all provinces have been “traveled” through, a prize will be rewarded.
