LOS ANGELES COUNTY BAR ASSOCIATION
MEET THE BAR
COMMUNITY
ACCESS TO THE JUDICIARY
LACBA members represent nearly 20,000 legal professionals – Judges, Attorneys and Paralegals.
Our members are leaders in the legal profession – we are the voice of the legal community in Los Angeles.
While many lawyers belong to an association that speaks to their niche in the profession – ethnic, national background or community – LACBA is the only association where they all come together.
141 judicial officers are LACBA members.
Many judges are members of section executive committees, and the current Presiding Judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court is a LACBA Assistant Vice President.
More than 100 sitting Federal and State judges attend our Litigation Section’s Bench Meets the Bar luncheon each year.
Every sitting California Supreme Court Justice participated in at least one LACBA program last year.
Young attorneys interact with sitting judges at the Barristers/Young Attorneys Bench Meets the Bar Reception.

The Barristers/Young Attorneys Section, for younger and newer lawyers (not always the same thing),
sponsors networking events and educational CLE programs throughout the county.
These special programs provide opportunities for young attorneys to grow in the community and meet
other lawyers facing similar challenges and successes in their early years of practice (until age 36).
New attorneys can gain practical legal experience and network with attorneys from various practice
areas by volunteering with LACBA's AIDS, Domestic Violence, Immigration or Veterans Legal Services
Projects; or by participating in LACBA's Limited Experience Panel.
Efforts aimed at student loan consolidation are Available through affinity partners, where newer
lawyers can receive financial counseling and advice to reduce the monthly burden of paying
high-interest student loans.
