Tuesday Night Poker cards face down – these are called your 'hole cards'. Then there is a round of betting where you can Check, Bet or Fold. This stage of the game is known as pre-flop and what you should do is dependent on those hole cards, or starting hand. When all the betting has finished three shared cards are dealt face up in the middle of the table. This is called the flop. After this there is another round of betting, then a fourth shared card – called the turn – is dealt. There is another round of

betting then a final shared card – called the river – and a final round of betting. Your best Texas Hold-em hands will be made by using your hole cards and the five cards in the middle to make the best possible five card poker hand. There are two ways a hand can end. One is when the players in a hand turn over their hole cards and the player with the best hand wins. This is known as a showdown. The other is that someone will bet enough that everyone else folds. This is how most hands

Have you tried Indoor Carpet Bowls

Indoor carpet bowls is a smaller version of lawn bowls and is very much a community activity played by seniors, men, women and children. The bowls are much smaller and lighter than lawn bowls and there is less of a distance to bowl. This makes it a game of skill rather than strength and can be played by people of all ages and abilities including wheelchair us-ers. As it is a scaled down version of lawn bowls, it is easier to play in areas where space is more re-stricted. It is portable, too, and the mats can just be rolled up and stored away when finished. The Light-ning Ridge District Bowl-ing Club hosts indoor carpet bowls each Wednesday evening from 7pm. Cost is only $3 per player, all bowls and equipment is supplied, so all you have to do is regis-ter by 6.30pm. Indoor Carpet Bowls is a fun social activity and a greet way to meet new friends o come on down and meet some great people and have a fantastic time.

Celebrate Mums Special Day at Lucky’s Brasserie Bistro

On Sunday the 13th of May many Australians will spend the day celebrating their mothers and other special wom-en in their lives. Some Mums may be given cards, flowers and gifts, while others may enjoy breakfast in bed or a lunch out. Mother's Day has long been a part of the Australian calendar, but where did the idea to dedicate the second Sunday in May to honouring motherhood come from? It was not until 1924, following the losses of World War I, that Mother's Day was first held in Australia. Sydney woman Janet Heyden started the tradition after becoming concerned for the lonely, forgotten aged mothers at Newington State Hos-pital where she regularly visited a friend. She successfully campaigned for local schools and businesses to donate gifts to the ladies. "There were so many mothers who were no longer mothers, so many wives who were now widowed because of WW1, and there were also so many women who never had the prospect of becoming mothers or wives because a whole generation had been wiped out in the trenches of the Western Front. While Mother's Day initially began to promote peace and support women, over the years it has become an occasion for family reunions in Australia. "It's not just about recognising the role of mothers, though that's still there, but it's really rec-ognising Mother's Day as a day in which families can get together," "That's becoming increasingly important because in the busy world in which we live, families don't get together as much as they used to. Today, Mother's Day is a day for all women, It's no longer linked to a particular set of values and a particular view of the role of women. It has a kind of universal appeal and a cross-cultural appeal so that it can appeal to all ethnic groups in Aus-tralia. To help out all the Families, and all the Mums this year, Lucky’s Brasserie are providing an All you Can Buffet on Mothers Day for Lunch and Dinner. A large variety of Dishes will be available so do mum a favour and come on down to Lucky’s Brasserie on Mothers Day
