On Monday, August 11th, MedStar Washington Hospital Center RNs elected a new bargaining team for our 2014 NNU contract negotiations. Our bargaining team represents the most diverse group of nurses in the history of collective bargaining at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. While these bedside nurses work in various departments and specialties, all share a commitment to our core principles: en- suring safe staffing at all times and recruiting and retaining the most highly skilled nurses. Please con- gratulate our new bargaining team. Our nurse negotiating team will meet and write our first proposal. This will be our initial proposal to management to improve working conditions, patient safety, wages, and benefits. Once the proposals are finished, we will present the proposals to all NNU members for final input. Our next Facility Bargaining Council meetings will be on Friday, September 5th at 7:30 am, 5:00 pm, and 7:30 pm and on Saturday, September 6th at 7:30 am and 7:30 pm. The location is yet to be determined.
