Medical tourism or health tourism is the travel of people toanother country for the purpose of obtaining medical treatment inthat country.

Medical tourism is a growing sector in India. India’s medicaltourism sector is expected to experience an annual growth rate of30%, making it a $2 billion industry by 2015.

The city of Chennai has been termed India's health capital.Multi- and super-specialty hospitals across the city bring in anestimated 150 international patients every day. Chennai attractsabout 45 percent of health tourists from abroad arriving in thecountry and 30 to 40 percent of domestic health tourists.

In just five years medical tourism in India has made a remarkable

position in the world medical tourism map and is recognized as reputed

health tourist destination all over the world.

According to a statistics, India will receive around one million health

tourist with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 28.09%.
