The Neurology Residency at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center began in July 2013. Certified as a Primary Stroke Center since 2007, BroMenn Medical Center, in conjunction with Still OPTI in Kirksville, Missouri is dedicated to providing a well-rounded experience.
Program Director, Sunil Chauhan, MD, MPH leads the efforts toward an exciting and comprehensive neurological program for trainees. The broad base of faculty include neurologists and neuroradiologists, including an interventional neuroradiologist. Residents will have the opportunity to interact with the residents and faculty of our highly regarded neurological surgery program, adding another dimension to their training.
About the programThis AOA accredited program offers a solid foundation of training and experience in the first year that includes a balance of neurology, emergency medicine, surgical electives, internal medicine (cardiology, intensive care unit, general internal medicine) as well as electives agreed upon with the program director.
As outlined in the AOA standards, our program emphasizes the osteopathic principles as a key component of training. Our program incorporates the osteopathic diagnostic and therapeutic measures as related to total care of the patient.
What we offerThe program offers residents opportunities in didactic instruction based on evidence based medicine, clinical case presentations, neuroradiology rounds, conference presentations, supervised clinical experience and additional opportunities to enhance the educational experience.
Where We AreLocated in the twin cities of Bloomington and Normal—the heart of Illinois—we offer many of the advantages of a larger city
while still keeping that small-town feel and affordable cost of living.
The city of Chicago is a short 2-hour trip north by car or train. St. Louis is approximately 2 ½ hours south by car or train and Indianapolis is 3 hours east. The Central Illinois Regional Airport (Bloomington) or the Greater Peoria Regional Airport also offer convenient services to all parts of the country.
Application ProcessTo be considered for an interview and position within our program, applicants must:
• Have graduated from an Osteopathic Medical School within the past three years.
• Be eligible to work in the United States. The program does not provide visa sponsorship(s).
• Meet Advocate BroMenn Medical Center’s employment eligibility requirements for GME trainees.
• Have a completed ERAS application including a CV, three letters of recommendation, Medical School and COMLEX transcripts.
