The International Urogynecological Association in collaboration with King Hamad University Hospital and Arabian Gulf University organized the “IUGA Exchange Program” on 11 and 12 November 2016 at the main lecture hall of King Hamad University Hospital. The course was intended for physicians, nurses, technicians, interns and medical students. The objective of this course was to improve scientific knowledge in urogynecology and improvement of women’s health delivery. The event was approved for 11 CME credit hours. Gen. Dr. Mohamed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa’s Ninth Annual Prize for Medical Research was celebrated on Wednesday, 16 November 2016 at King Hamad University Hospital. The ceremony was aimed to honor the winners who have produced the best medical research published in Bahrain Medical Bulletin in 2015 by presenting them with a well- deserved award. The event was graced with the presence of recognized pioneers and leaders of the medical profession in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Gulf region. Sheikh Mohamed expressed his feelings of gratitude and honor to encourage his colleagues to perform research and improve the quality of medical practice in Bahrain and the region. He added that his family had allocated an annual fund of BD 8,000 for medical research in the name of the late Sheikh Dr. Ali Al- Khalifa, a founder of Bahrain Medical Bulletin. Dr. Jaffar Al Bareeq, the founder and chief editor of Bahrain Medical Bulletin stated that HE Sheikh Lt. Gen. Dr. Mohamed bin Abdullah Al-Khalifa Prize for Medical Research was established to encourage medical and paramedical research in Bahrain and the Arab world. The prize awarded by the Bahrain Medical Bulletin is considered one of the most important medical events held in the Kingdom. Officials and healthcare pioneers were present at this significant event to celebrate the researchers who have contributed highly in raising the level of health and medical services through their research. He added that the award winners were selected by distinguished senior consultants including the elite of the specialists in the Kingdom of Bahrain and abroad. The keynote speaker for this year’s event was Professor Declan Walsh, Professor of Palliative Medicine, Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland.
