‘Mr.  White  in  Sunder-‐land!’

Page 2: Media workkkk 1

Based  on  the  film    ‘Alice  in  Wonderland’

by  Lewis  Carroll.

Our  idea  is  basically  a  twist  on  the  Alice  in  Wonderland  story.  However,  Alice  is  not  the  main  character,  the  White  Rabbit  is.

The  difference  with  our  short  film  is  there  is  a  difference  to  the  dated  ‘Alice  in  Wonderland’  characters.

The  modern  twist..

Page 3: Media workkkk 1

Our  characters  are  all  human,  living  in  the  city  of  Sunderland.

Although  they  aren’t  exactly  the  same  as  the  Alice  in  Wonderland

characters,  they  all  have  the  traits  and  characteris-cs.

Mr.  White  in  Sunder-‐land  is  a  comedy.  The  idea  is  an  adult  take  on  a

children's  classic.

The  twist  in  the  story  is  a  posiDve  one.  Much  like  the  award  winning  short  film  ‘Sign  Language’.  Disappointment    has  seeped  through  the  film  which  makes  the  audience  empathize  towards  Mr.  White,  but  not  losing  that  happy  fairy  tale  ending.

Our  short  film  will  be  shown  as  a  special  feature  on  the  Alice  and

Wonderland  DVD.  This  will  enable  us  to  target  the

audience  that  will  be  interested  in  our  short  film.

And  also  at  London  short  film  fes-val.

Our  short  film  will  be  adver-sed  along  with  the  Alice  in  Wonderland

DVD.

We  also  plan    to  make  Posters  to  help  adver-se  our  short  film.

We  did  some  audience  research  and  found  out  that..

•  Most  of  our  audience  prefer  reality  to  fantasy.  •  70%  of  audience  prefer  comedy.

•  100%  of  our  audience  have  at  least  heard  of  Alice  in  Wonderland.

•  94%  have  watched  or  read  the  book  Alice  in  Wonderland.

We’re  appealing  to  a  more  cultured  audience.  By  using  references  to  Alice  in  Wonderland  it  helps  our  audience

almost  relate  to  the  short  film.

The  basic  synopsis  of  our  short  film  is  a  series  of  unfortunate  events  that  happen  to  Mr.  White,  all

relaDng  to  him  being  late,  as  this  is  the  main  characterisDc  of  the  White  Rabbit  in  Alice  and

Wonderland..

First  he  misses  an  important  meeDng  with  his  two  business

partners,  Barry  and  Larry  Tweedle.  (Based  on  Tweedle  Dee  and

Tweedle  Dum)  He  then  misses  an  important  date  with  his  girlfriend  Alice.  Finally  he  misses  his  best  friend’s  tea  party.  So  everyone’s

preUy  annoyed  with  him.

Page 11: Media workkkk 1

He  ends  the  day  on  a  low,  thinking  everyone  hates  him  and  as  it’s  his

birthday  tomorrow,  he’ll  be  spending  it  alone,  he  goes  to  bed

and  cries,

Page 12: Media workkkk 1

He  wakes  up,  sDll  sulking  about  the  previous  day  and  slumps  down  the  stairs.  When  he  walks  into  his  living  room,  all  of  his  friends  are  there  celebraDng  a  surprise  birthday!

A  happy  ending.

Our  story  is  happy,  imagina-ve  and  contains  a  twist.  All  these  features  are  popular  within  our  audience  according  to  our  research.
