Costumes Each costume were made specialy for each

character and actor. These costumes took alot of time and cost alot of money to make.

Some costumes could only be used once because they are so fragile and precise. They needed to be perfect while being filmed.

This meant it was very important to get the shots they needed the first time as if not, some costumes would have to be remade which would cost more money and time.

It was some people’s jobs to deliberatly damage the clothes to give them a specific look that was needed in a scene.

In the picture on the right you can see some clothes this has been done to, the tools used to do this and pictures of the actor wearing them.

Set One important part of the film is where Harry

grows up in the real world. This is set on a normal street. When they first started filming the Harry Potter

films they filmed these scenes on a real street. However, this was costing them too much money. To overcome this they built a replica of the street to film the scenes.

This gave them much more flexibility as well as actually being cheaper for them.

They built a scale model of the Hogwarts school to film large panning shots around the outside of the school.

The model had to be extremily detailed so that the shots used in the film would look realistic and there would be no continuity errors.

Initial ideas and designs of the film

Of course the film is based on the book but many things needed to be designed and created for the film.

Hundreds of pieces of concept art and drawing were made to get to the final designs of many things you see in the films.

All the drawing help to create world inside the film and develop into what is in the film.

Real technical drawing were made for things in the film.

It all helps to make everything seen in the film feel realistic and creates the exprience the audience wants when they see the film.
