Survey Monkey Analysis

Question 1: What age group do you fall in?The first question on my survey was ‘What age group do you fall in?’. This is important whilst collecting results as it tells you which magazines are aimed at each age group. In my results, I found that a lot of 70% (15 people) of the people who took my survey were ages 16-20, 15% (3 people) under 16, 0% were 21-25 ( 0 people) and 10% (2 people) were 26+.

Question 2: What genre do you enjoy most? The second question on my survey was ‘What genre of music do you enjoy most?’. In my survey, I gave people the option to put more than one genre of music down. My results showed that 55% liked rock, 45% liked pop, 5% liked jazz, 5% liked classical 25% liked R’n’B and 15% liked other.I created a chart to show which age group likes which best and my results showed that the majority of people who liked rock and pop were ages 16-20 ,with an exception of 1 under 16 year old and 1 26+, people who liked R’n’B were all ages between 16 and 20.

Question 3: How many magazines do you read a month?

The third question on my survey was ‘How many magazines do you read in a month?’. From my results, it showed that 90% of the people (18 people) who took my questionnaire read 0-5 magazines in a month and 10% (2 people) read 6-11 in a month.

Question 4: What type of magazines do you read?

The fourth question on my survey was ‘ What type of magazines do you read?’. From my results, I can see that the most popular magazine read is gossip magazines, and the second most popular is fashion and music. Based on the results to my first question, this shows that the majority of people reading these magazines fall between 16-20.

Question 5: How much would you spend on magazines in a month?

The fifth question on my survey was ‘How much would you spend on magazines in a month?. From my results, it shows that the majority of people are prepared to spend up to £5.00 maximum on a magazine, with one person prepared to spend £5.50 or more on magazines. In some ways, this could relate to their age as older people tend to have more money to spend and could buy higher quality magazines or buy more of them.

Question 6: What do you like about these magazines?

The sixth question in my survey was ‘What do you like about these magazines?’. Looking at my results, the responses to this question varied. For example, some people they said they liked the colours of the magazine and that it stands out, whereas others said they liked the information in the magazine. This could also vary on the age, because people under 16 could like one issue of a magazine because their favourite celebrity is on the front cover or there something that makes them slightly biased when talking about the magazine.

Question 7: What genre is your favourite magazine?

The seventh question of my survey was ‘What genre is your favourite magazine?’. The majority of people who answered this answered ‘Rock’ or ‘music’, which shows that a lot of the people who answered must be quite interested in music. However, with this question, 7 people skipped it, so it is hard to determine accurate results which is to say the most popular genre of magazine.

Question 8: What colours are mostly used in your favourite magazines?

The eighth question in my survey was ‘What colours are mostly used in your favourite magazine? Do you like this colour scheme or would you change them? If so, what would you change it to?’. From my results, there is a varied selection of answers. I am assuming that people that read music magazines, e.g. Rock, are more likely to find darker colours than they would in a pop magazine or if they were reading a fashion magazine.

Question 9: Does your favourite band/artist/celebrity appear in this

magazine a lot?The ninth question in my survey was ‘Does your favourite band/artist/celebrity appear in this magazine a lot?Looking at my results, a lot of people said no, but some said yes. This may be because their favourite band/artist/celebrityMay not be very well known or in the specific genre of magazine they are reading. One person answered with it not beingImportant which shows that they may not be interested in their favourite band/artist/celebrity being in the magazine And they are interested in other aspects of the magazine.

Question 10: Referring to question 9, Does this influence you buying the magazine?

If so, why?The final question on my survey was ‘Referring to question 9, does this influence you buying the magazine? If so, why?. From my results, it shows that people aren’t all that influenced by their favourite celebrities being on the front cover, and would buy the magazine even if they weren’t.

SummaryOverall, my results show that the older the person taking the questionnaire, the less interested they are in what is in the magazine. For example, one person aged 26+ said it wasn’t important what colours were in the magazine or what was in the magazine, however people younger cared about images of their favourite celebrities and what stories went on throughout the magazine.
