MEDIA RELEASE November 1, 2016 Construction worker sustains critical injuries while on the roof at a construction site. (Spring Hill, FL) @ 1:03pm Hernando County Fire Rescue (HCFR) responded to a reported subject who fell from a ladder on the roof of a construction site and sustained traumatic injuries. The construction site is located at 11055 Spring Hill Drive. The first HCFR unit arrived on scene within 3 minutes and found the patient still on the roof and due to his injuries could not get himself down. HCFR dispatched their Light Tactical Rescue Team, a team trained in technical rescue and special operations. Paramedics attended to the patient while fire crews prepared for the rescue. The patient was lowered from the roof with care then being transferred to a Bayflight medical helicopter crew. The patient was flown to Bayonet Point Medical Center’s trauma center in critical but stable condition. HCFR units on scene were 2 fire engines, 1 ladder truck, 1 rescue, and a battalion chief for a total of 12 fire rescue personnel. HCFR was also assisted by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.
