How did I attract my audience? To attract my audience I used a clear stand out colour scheme, I wanted the colour scheme to make the magazine stand out from other hip hop magazines. I also used a clear main image of someone with their hood up this makes the genre of the magazine clear and may catch my audiences attention. I think I achieved a noticeable magazine as all the colour contrast well together and there are not any overly dominant colours that take over the magazine. I used Market Research once I had identified what my target audience was. I used a program called survey monkey to create my survey. Survey Monkey is a free to sign up program and offers a free ten question survey for free users. However for more questions I would need to pay a yearly fee, therefore I only did ten questions. I used the program survey monkey to create my survey and emailed it to my class to fill out and send back. I then used my results to create my magazine, if the magazine is created by the audience I will be marketing to there is more chance that they will be attracted to the magazine. I wanted to find tastes and preferences liked by my audience

I wanted to find tastes and preferences liked by my audience and incorporate them into the magazine.

In my magazine I used hip hop associated slang to connect to the audience who would also use similar slang terms in their vocabulary. I did this so the audience could connect to the magazine which would draw them in to reading it. The audience can then relate to the magazine which may incline them to read the publication.

I also did a focus group to attract my audience. I wanted to receive feed back from the audience to see how I can improve the magazine to increase its chance of attracting an audience. The focus group helped me with organisation and layout of the publication whereas the questionnaire helped with colour schemes and initial ideas. Using both these forms of market research helps my publication to be as successful as possible.

What have I learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

From creating my music magazine I have learnt about and how to use key technologies that have helped me create my music magazine. Some of the technologies I have used are Photoshop, Indesign, Prezi and blogger. I had previous knowledge of Photoshop but have built in confidence to use it while creating my magazine. I also learnt how to use adobe Indesign to create my double page spread. I had never used indesign and have learnt how to use it to make an effective double page spread. I have learnt new technologies and have explained what I what programs I used on each slide. Allot of the programs used where internet based and I used the internet to get embedded codes to then post my work onto my online blog.

Here are some of the technologies I have learnt about and have learnt how to use effectively. The first technology I have learnt is using the DSLR camera to take my photos. The camera is professional and takes high quality pictures that I edited on Photoshop. The camera was set up with a light studio that helped me get the most professional looking picture possible. I learnt how to position and use the camera and how to position the lights to give the best contrast. Another technology I have learnt to use is the Mac computers, I have used all my programs on the Mac and learnt how to access shared drives and how to screenshot and save work correctly.

The next technology I have learnt about is Blogger, I used this program to blog all of my work and show my whole magazine production process. In blogger I have learnt how to use embedded code and how to get other programs to post on my blog as some required a program like slide share. For example I can not put my power point presentation straight onto blogger I had to use slide share to get an embedded code to then post on blogger. On blogger I have also learnt how to use the blog effectively to exhibit my work. Most importantly i have learnt how to navigate blogger to post new blogs and check and edit older posts.

My favourite technology I have learnt about is Prezi, I like this program as it is very creative and fun to use. I like that there is allot of freedom on the program to make effective and interesting presentations rather than using basic programs such as power point. I did two Prezi presentations and posted them to my blog.

Another program I have learnt about is Indesign I had never used Indesign before and used Web Pages such as Youtube to find online tutorials on how to use Indesign. This independent learning allowed me to learn how to use Indesign by myself by watching tutorials. Some of the things I learnt on Indesign was how to make text coulombs and use the text wrapping feature. I also put page and issue numbers on the bottom of my page. I enjoyed working on Indesign.
