What emotional impact do you want your photography do have upon the reader? How?

I want my photography to intrigue and interested the reader, drawing them in. In order to do this I will have my model at eye level looking directly at the camera to connect with the audience. Regardless if their facial expression is serious or lively my model must be breaking the barrier set in-between themselves and the audience by being fixed on the camera. Also my model will be positioned in the middle third of the shot to engage the model even more with audience.

I want the audience to being feeling the emotion impact of excitement, that they can’t wait to buy the magazine and read/look at the rest of it. Also I want a few relaxed sub-images of my model, such as her laughing to suggest that she isn’t always posing and has time for relaxation just like the rest of us, which connects the model to the audience again suggesting that they aren’t so different after all.

What personnel do you need? Who are you going to photograph? To the right of this text is a photo to prove that my model has agreed to be a part of my magazine. Also providing evidence that she has understood all requirements and is willing to follow all of them to the best of her ability.

What props will you need? I don’t plan on using any props as I want my model to be the main

and only focus with no distinctions or obstacles in the way of my model maintaining full attention/spotlight. If I happen to use props I could possibly use a microphone or a lyrical writing book because they symbolise what the model (acting singer) is all about, their job and livelihood. Also I could use flowers as a possible prop to symbolises the innocent and purity of the magazines aims.

How are you going to emphasise colour? As my model will be dressed mainly in bright and vibrant colours, I

am hoping to have a plain neutral background such as white to contrast with each other. I hope having these two colours positioned together in the same shot will give off a professional and unique look with the opposing colours lied up side by side. One being such a dominant and energetic colour against another with such a pure and simple meaning behind it. Also I am planning on linking the clothing colour to the text colour, but having a lighter tone as it is less significant.

Have you briefed/personnel model? I have prepared my model for the shoot, by providing her with all of

the essential information needed for the day. Firstly I sent messages enquiring my model to participate in the modelling event where I received a positive response, which included her giving consent. I also told my model the purpose of the shoot whilst stating what clothes I’d like them to wear, what type of make up to have on. I recently messaged my model further to discuss preferred dates and times for the shoot.

What lighting do you need? Any other equipment? I am planning on using natural lighting for the shoot so that my

model and background both look very pure, realistic and natural. The day in which I have chose to shot has been predicted to be the brightest day of the week, this is a positive because the brighter the natural lighting the clearer the shot. E.g. facial expression, make up much more visible. Due to this I won’t be needed any additional equipment to help with the lighting of the shot.

Where will you shoot? Will you need a backdrop? The shoot will take place outside within Sunderland, mainly at the

local park then the seafront however I don’t wish to use a backdrop. I want the background of park and beach visible so that the audience feel closer to the model knowing where she is located. Also knowing the models location will add realism to the magazine as the majority of my target audience have access to a park or beach. Or have at least visited one before.

Make-up? Costume?

I looked at serval different music and non-musical magazines with female models on the front cover, such as Top Of The Pops, Glamour and Cosmopolitan for the majority of my inspiration.

I chose to look at Top Of The Pops as we share the same music genre focus of Pop. Also I chose to look at Glamour and Cosmopolitan because we all share the same primary audience gender of females, so I knew there would some beneficial features to look at that would suit my target audience. Whilst looking at these covers I noticed that all make up was very simple and neutral, with the only bit of colour coming through the lips and small amount from the cheeks.

Another similarity throughout looking at many front covers published by these three magazines was that the costumes were all very young, fashionable and vibrant. Whether it was a bright red top and denim shorts or a lively pink dress, due to this the only thing that differed within the costumes were that some were dressy whilst others were casual.
