  1. 1. So the second and third video I am going to analyse are red lights by Tiesto and Animals by Martin Garix. I am again going to be analysing this video in terms of Genre Theory, whether it meets my expectations and whether or not it relates to the Dance Music Genre.
  2. 2. Red Lights Tiesto Throughout the video there was lots of energy, expensive cars, remote and big budget locations, music, dancing and drinking and attarctive women again introducing the male gaze into the video. All the things shown in the video were expected and were stereotypical for a Dance Music video. For instance the club at the end of the video displayed everyone dancing and enjoying themselves creating energy for the audience which is similar to the end of the summer video by Calvin Harris. The video also related the Dance Music genre as alike the song the video was upbeat and full of energy which would attract and engage the audience so that they would enjoy the song. However unlike other Dance Music videos this video did not have a clear narrative however it still successfully completed aits purpose to entertain and engage the primary audience.
  3. 3. Martin Garix animals This music video again was full of energy however started to build mystery and suspense. The masks and dark coloured clothing connotated mystery and crime. However the video was still quite stereotypical/ expected. There was again people dancing and drinking in a club like atmosphere which is extremely common in Dance Music videos. However this video also displayed acts of crime and violence, the smashing of the car and the fire did create energy and added an element of mystery and excitement to the video. Unlike other Dance music videos the artist (Martin Garix) was not shown until the end when he was unmasked however in my opinion this added suspense to the video as the audience are completely un aware of who is wearing the masks. The video still relates to the dance Music genre though as there was still dancing and drinking and an atmosphere full of energy which alike other videos would engage and entertain both the primary audience and the secondary audience.
  4. 4. Did watching these videos help? Yes, watching these videos has helped me and given me more ideas of what to include in my coursework video. I know have more knowledge on the Dance Music genre and know what the sterotypes and expected elements are. Therefore myself and my partner can now begin to decide whether we want to create a unique or normal Dance Music video.
