As a Media Arts student you will be issued with a specific ID card which is to be used as a deposit for borrowing equipment (you cannot use it for anything else in college). You will be able to borrow the following: digital stills cameras, digital video cameras, tripods, camera lenses.

When you take equipment out, either in the day or overnight, you will need to hand in your card. The card is your responsibility, if you lose it you will have to leave a deposit of £2 to book equipment out, which will be returned to you when you have returned it.

You will be responsible for the full cost of equipment that you borrow if it is lost or damaged during the period of the loan.

Please see further guidelines below:

Before being able to borrow equipment you must have had an initial letter signed by parent/guardian and returned to the IT Heldesk.

Equipment is booked out from the IT Helpdesk in J101, at the back of the library; the Media department does not hold any equipment.

The maximum time for borrowing equipments is 2 days. If you need it for longer you will have to renew it. To do this you must take the equipment back to the IT Helpdesk.   Renewing equipment over email is not acceptable.

If you need equipment for the weekend you can ONLY book it out after 12.00 noon on the Friday before, cameras will not be released any earlier.

Cameras which are borrowed at the weekend must be returned no later than Monday 4.15 pm.

If you borrow a tripod you must make sure the head is attached to it when returning it.

If you do not have your specific loans card when borrowing equipment you will be able leave £2 as a deposit.

If you have neither your specific loans card or a £2 pound deposit, you will not be able to borrow equipment.

The equipment is your responsibility so look after it; if you are not able to return them on the correct day you must contact the IT helpdesk and let them know.

Failure to return equipment will jeopardise your place in college and will initially result in your college account and log in details being frozen. If this occurs you must see the IT Helpdesk straight away.
