Ottawa Fury FC is owned by the Ottawa Sports
and Entertainment Group (OSEG), which include
business partners John Ruddy, Jeff Hunt, Bill
Shenkman, John Pugh and Roger Greenberg. On
June 20, 2011, OSEG was awarded a North American Soccer League (NASL) franchise
by then NASL Commissioner David Downs.
ABOUT OSEGThe Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG), in partnership with the City of
Ottawa, has transformed Lansdowne Park into Ottawa’s newest and most exciting
sport and entertainment destination. This ‘Jewel by the Rideau Canal’ is a ‘go-to’
downtown destination for all residents and visitors to the city, offering live sports and
entertainment, a shopping and entertainment district, condominium living and a new
urban park. OSEG partners include John Ruddy, Jeff Hunt, Bill Shenkman, John Pugh
and Roger Greenberg.
OSEG was initially founded to re-establish CFL football in Ottawa; however, the city’s
stadium required major renovations which were not feasible without a comprehensive
plan for the revitalization of the entire 48-acre site. That plan became a reality and,
today, the New Lansdowne features a modern, 24,000 seat stadium (TD Place) for
football, soccer, concerts and other major events; a refurbished 9,862 seat arena
(TD Place) for the Ottawa 67’s (OHL) and community hockey, other arena sports,
mid-size concerts and other events; two condominium towers and townhomes with
a combined 280 units, a 360,000 Sq. Ft. shopping/entertainment district, an office
tower, 1,300 underground parking spaces and an 18-acre urban park.
OSEG owns and operates the Ottawa REDBLACKS, Ottawa Fury FC and Ottawa 67’s.
OSEG also manages TD Place and the mixed-use areas and facilities on the site.

C O A C H I N G S T A F FPAU L DALG L ISH – H EAD COAC H | G E N E RAL MANAG E R
Paul Dalglish was hired as the second head coach
in Fury FC history on Nov. 20, 2015, taking over a
squad that posted a 15-11-4 overall record last season,
culminating in a Fall Season championship. Born in
Glasgow, Scotland, Dalglish comes to Ottawa boasting
both an impressive bloodline and, more importantly, a
winning background so far in his coaching career. The
son of Scottish legend Kenny Dalglish, Paul Dalglish
came across the pond to begin his managerial career
in 2008, following a playing career that spanned more
than a decade.
Dalglish’s first stop was as coach of the Houston Dynamo Academy in 2008, before
being named head coach of FC Tampa Bay. After Tampa Bay, Dalglish accepted a
job manager of the Austin Aztex for the club’s expansion season in the USL PDL. Out
of 73 teams, the Dalglish-led Aztex finished in the top eight with a record of 10-6-2
and moved on to the conference finals. The following year, Dalglish led Austin to the
league’s best record at 15-1-2 en route to a league championship in a season where the
Aztex scored the most goals in the league and conceded the fewest. The performance
earned Dalglish USL PDL Coach of the Year Honours. The following season, Dalglish
became an assistant coach to Jeff Cassar with MLS side Real Salt Lake before returning
for a final season with the Aztex prior to signing on with Ottawa Fury FC.
Though born in Scotland, Dalglish grew up in Liverpool, where his dad managed
Liverpool FC. Paul himself would join Liverpool after developing as a youth player with
Celtic and would make stops at Newcastle United, Norwich City, Blackpool, Houston
Dynamo and Kilmarnock during his playing days. In a 3-1 win over the Colorado Rapids
while with Houston, Dalglish scored twice and was named Man on the Match for the
performance that helped his side earn a spot in the MLS Cup.
MART I N NASH – ASS ISTANT COAC H | ASS ISTANT G E N E RAL MANAG E R
A part of the Fury FC coach staff since Day 1, Nash was
one of the first hires as the organization started to build
the expansion side. Nash joined the club in October
of 2013. Best known for his 10 years playing with the
Vancouver Whitecaps, Nash’s professional career
spanned more than 16 years in Canada, England and
the United States along with 38 caps at the senior level
representing Canada. Nash announced his retirement
from professional soccer in October 2010 and remained
with Whitecaps FC as a coach in their Youth Academy
and as a first team scout. He then served as an assistant
coach with the Whitecaps MLS Reserve team, their PDL
team as well as their U16 and U18 squads. Most recently,
he served as the head coach of the BC Provincial team that captured silver at the
Canada Games as well as running the North Vancouver Football Club Academy.
Born in Regina, Nash was raised in Victoria and is the product of the Lower Vancouver
Island Metro Selects that helped launch his professional career with Whitecaps FC
(then known as Vancouver 86ers) at the age of 19 in 1995. In his second professional
season he was named to the All-A-League team before spending several years jumping
back and forth across the Atlantic where he featured with Stockport County, Chester
City and Macclesfield Town with stints with Vancouver and Rochester in between.
The central midfielder spent 2003 with the Montreal Impact before returning to the
Whitecaps in 2004 where he played out the duration of his career finishing as the
club’s seventh all-time leader in points with 110 – this includes 31 goals (15th all-time)
and 48 assists (third all-time). In 16 professional seasons, Nash would score 45 goals
and record 74 assists in 421 total appearances collecting four league championships
– two with the Rochester Rhinos (2000 and 2001) and two with the Vancouver
Whitecaps (2006 and 2008).
After appearing for his country at the U-20 and U-23 Olympic level, he made his
international debut for the senior team in a FIFA World Cup qualifier against
El Salvador on April 6, 1997. Nash would go on to earn 38 caps, scoring twice and
helped lead Canada to the CONCACAF Gold Cup title in 2000. His last international
appearance came in 2008.
Nash holds a National A License and also works in the Fury FC Academy.

BRUC E G ROBBE LAAR – GOALKE E PE R COAC HThe Liverpool FC legend joined Fury FC in July 2014
as the second goalkeeper coach in club history.
Grobbelaar’s 13 seasons with Liverpool saw the South
African born keeper make 440 appearances winning
six League titles, three FA Cups, three League Cups
and the 1984 European Cup. To this date, Grobbelaar
remains the most decorated goalkeeper in English
Football. Best known for his unflappable confidence
and unconventional style of play, it is the unique flare
that Grobbelaar brought to the game that many credit
for Liverpool’s European Cup victory over Roma on
penalty kicks. In all, Grobbelaar made 816 professional
appearances that also includes 24 appearances in the
NASL with the Vancouver Whitecaps during the 1979-80 season.
Born in Durban, South Africa,
Grobbelaar was raised in
neighbouring Zimbabwe (then
Rhodesia) and would go on to be
capped 36 times from 1980-1998.
He would turn to coaching in 1999
upon his return to South Africa
starting with the Seven Stars. He was
also twice briefly player-manager of
Zimbabwe’s National Team.
Bruce is also working with
goalkeepers in the Fury FC Academy.
DAR KO BUSE R – ASS ISTANT COAC H | ACADE MY D I R ECTOR
Buser holds a UEFA A Licence and before coming
to Ottawa spent the 12 years working at Chelsea FC,
where he worked directly with their academy. Born in
Belgrade, Buser developed as a player with FC Red
Star Belgrade and played professionally in the former
Yugoslavia until moving to the United Kingdom in 1992.
He has also worked with the Serbian National Team
with international camps and as an opposition scout for
the U19 team.
Fluent in English, Serbian, Slovenian, Macedonian,
Italian and Russian, Buser brought his wealth of
experience to Ottawa and has been a popular addition
the staff.

P L A Y E R P R O F I L E SFORWARDS A tough start to the NASL season led to a magical run for Ottawa Fury FC in 2015 as
the team overcame some early adversity to capture a Fall Season championship in just
the club’s second year of existence. After losing their road opener 3-1 to the Carolina
RailHawks and then picking up a point with a 1-1 draw in Atlanta, Fury emerged victorious
in the club’s home-opener at TD Place, narrowly downing Minnesota United FC 1-0
thanks to a 68th minute goal from Tom Heinemann. But things got tough after that, as
Fury would lose four-straight, including both legs of the Amway Canadian Championship
against rival FC Edmonton.
Instead of feeling sorry for themselves, however, Fury went on an absolute tear as
the club reeled off 12-straight games without a loss, setting a record for longest road
unbeaten streak along the way. Among the results was a massive four-game winning
streak, in which Fury defeated tough opponents like the Fort Lauderdale Strikers,
New York Cosmos, Carolina RailHawks and FC Edmonton. Ottawa would follow up the
1-0 playoff spot-clinching shutout of Edmonton (one of 14 clean sheets recorded by
goalkeeper Romuald Peiser on the year, another NASL record) and then down Indy
Eleven 4-1 before Fury finally saw its unbeaten streak come to an end on a devastating,
last-minute goal by Minnesota United FC to secure the win.
Once again, Fury didn’t get down on themselves, going undefeated through the
remaining 12 games of the regular season to setup an NASL Championship semi-final
showdown against Minnesota at TD Place. In that match, arguably the most exciting Fury
game played in Ottawa to date, Fury overcame an early 1-0 deficit, tying the game on a
goal from Tom Heinemann before the American striker added his second of the game in
overtime to send Fury through to the final.
Despite a strong effort in the championship match, Fury FC came up just short in a 3-2
loss to the New York Cosmos. Heinemann, the club’s leading scorer in 2015, also scored
a brace in that game. Romuald Peiser would capture the NASL Golden Glove Award as
the league’s top keeper, the club took home the NASL Fair Play Award and Richie Ryan,
Rafael Alves and Romuald Peiser were named to the NASL Best XI.

C L U B H I S T O R Y K E Y D A T E SThe City of Ottawa was awarded an expansion
NASL franchise, granted to the Ottawa Sports and
Entertainment Group (OSEG), on June 20, 2011.
Eighteen months later, on February 26, 2013 Ottawa
Fury FC was born. The symbol of Fury FC was
unveiled months later – a traditional soccer shield
design that houses the name Ottawa Fury FC as well
as a flame that serves as a symbol of the club and
Canada’s capital.
Marc Dos Santos was hired as the club’s first head
coach in May 2013 as the architect of Ottawa’s first
professional team. Dos Santos, a former head coach
of current MLS club Montreal Impact, brought with
him a wealth of experience and significant contacts in
the soccer community to build the first year squad.
Under his leadership, a technical staff was brought together that included younger
brother Phillip Dos Santos (Technical Director), former Canadian International Martin
Nash (Assistant Coach) and Liverpool legend Bruce Grobbelaar (Goalkeeper Coach).
Ottawa Fury FC opened their inaugural season in Fort Lauderdale, falling 2-0 to the
Strikers, but not before solidifying their ability to content at the NASL ranks. Ottawa
impressed in their home debut before a sellout crowd at Carleton University. Vini
Dantas netted the first-ever goal in club history, but a stoppage time goal would see
visiting Minnesota United steal all three points in the opener. A week later, Fury FC
earned their first-ever victory in convincing fashion posting a 4-0 win over the visiting
Carolina RailHawks. Ottawa finished the NASL Spring Season in 6th position with a
3-1-5 (W-D-L) record.
Following the Ottawa REDBLACKS opening of TD Place on July 18, Fury FC christened
the stadium two days later on July 20 setting an NASL modern era attendance record
with a crowd of 14,593.
Fury’s second season in the league saw the club quickly turn into a championship
contender, setting league records for clean sheets and a lengthy unbeaten run on the
road, among others. While Fury’s Fall Championship win didn’t translate into a league
title – the Cosmos defeated Ottawa 3-2 in the finals to claim the Soccer Bowl – Fury
gave notice to the rest of the league that it was here to stay, compete and win.
Prior to being granted an NASL franchise, the organization existed as the Ottawa Fury
Soccer Club - one of the most recognizable names at the development level across
North America. Fury FC President and OSEG Partner John Pugh purchased the Fury
W-League franchise in 2002 and would spend the next decade building one of the
most respected youth academies in North America, a successful PDL program that
has seen players move on to the professional ranks and the W-League’s most storied
franchise that would capture a long sought after North American Championship in
2012. The Ottawa Fury Soccer Club also boasted several grassroots, skill development
and community programs that continue under the Fury FC banner.

The 2016 Amway Canadian Championship features Canada’s five
professional clubs taking part in a two-legged home-and-away,
three-round competition. The winning club will lift the Voyageurs
Cup and earn the right to represent Canada in 2017-18 CONCACAF
Champions League.
This ninth edition of the championship will see Canada’s two NASL clubs – Ottawa
Fury FC and FC Edmonton – play a preliminary knock-out home and away round. The
winner, the team that scores the greater aggregate of goals over the two matches,
will secure the fourth semi-final place and join the three Canadian MLS clubs, Impact
Montréal, Toronto FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the next round.
Through the first eight editions of the Amway Canadian Championship, Impact
Montréal were inaugural champions (2008) followed by Toronto FC who won the
Voyageurs Cup in four successive seasons (2009 to 2012), before Impact Montréal
won back-to-back championships 2013 and 2014. The Whitecaps won it all in 2015. In
CONCACAF Champions League, Impact Montréal (2008-09; 2014-2015) reached the
quarterfinal phase while Toronto FC (2011-12) has participated in the semi-final round of
continental club championship.

N A S L R U L E S & R E G U L A T I O N S
STRUCTU R E: The NASL Season is comprised of the Spring Tournament and the Fall Tournament.
The tournament winners (Spring & Fall) will each host a semi-final of the postseason
competition called ‘The Championship,’ with the number one seed awarded to
whichever of the Spring or Fall champions posts a better combined regular season
record. The number three and number four seeds will be awarded to the next two
clubs with the best overall records from both seasons combined with each of the clubs
retaining their seeding throughout the postseason. If the same club wins both seasons,
the clubs with the second, third and fourth best overall records from both seasons
combined will qualify for The Championship. The top-seeded semi-final winner will
host The Championship final.
SC H E DU LE: The 2016 NASL season will feature 12 teams. In the Spring Season, teams will play a 10-
game schedule before returning from a three week break for the 20-game Fall Season.
PO I NT SYSTE M: Teams receive three points for a win, one point for a tie and zero points for a loss.
R E FE R E ES:All referees for NASL matches played in the United States are nationally certified
referees assigned by the Professional Referee Organization (PRO), while the Canadian
Soccer Association (CSA) assigns referees for all matches played in Canada.
GAM E C LOC K:The official game time for all NASL games will be managed on the field by the referee.
If necessary, the referee may also allot extra time (a.k.a. ‘stoppage time; additional
time’) at the end of each period (first half, second half, and if applicable, first overtime
period and second overtime period during playoff games). The stadium clock will
display the time from 0:00 to 45:00 and from 45:00 to 90:00 (plus stoppage
time where applicable in each half). For statistical purposes, the minutes for goals,
substitutions, yellow cards, etc., will be listed from the first minute until the 90th
minute. A goal scored at 15 minutes 10 seconds will be listed as having been scored in
the 16th minute.
TEAM ROSTE RS: During the Season, each Team’s Master Roster shall be no less than 20 Players and
no more than 35 total Players. Players can compete on a maximum of TWO (2)
Teams per season.
ACT IVE ROSTE R AN D I NACT IVE ROSTE R: At no time may any Team name more than 30 eligible players on its Active Roster.
Only Players listed on an Active Roster are eligible to play in any League Game. Once
a player is listed on a team’s Inactive roster, that player must remain on the Inactive
Roster for at least 30 days. In order for a team to change a player from the Active
Roster to the Inactive Roster or vice versa, the team must notify the registrar, in writing,
at least 48 hours prior to the League Game for which the team intends for such change
to take effect. The League Office will make the final determination on whether players
are on the Active Roster or Inactive Roster for any game.
DOM EST IC PLAYE RS:A domestic Player for teams domiciled in the United States is either a U.S. citizen, a
permanent resident (green card holder) or the holder of other special status (e.g.,
refugee or asylum status). A domestic player for teams domiciled in Canada is either a
Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, a holder of a landed immigrant or a player who
qualifies as a domestic player in the United States.
I NTE R NAT IONAL PLAYE RS: Each team may list up to 7 non-domestic players on its master roster.
GAM E DAY ROSTE RS: Each team may nominate 18 players from its Active Roster for a game day roster.
Teams are allowed three substitutions per game.
CAUT IONS AN D SUSPE NS IONS: A player will be suspended for one game upon receiving his fifth yellow card –
regardless of the nature of the infraction which resulted in his being awarded the
yellow card. After a player has accumulated five yellow cards, he will earn an additional
one-game suspension for each additional three yellow cards he accumulates. A player
receiving two yellow cards in the same game will be suspended for the next game;
however for the purposes of accumulated yellow cards he will be considered to have
received just one red card. A player receiving a direct red card will automatically be
suspended for the next game and the NASL Disciplinary Committee has the power to
suspend him for additional games depending upon the severity of the offense which
led to the red card issued by the referee.

CAR D SUSPE NS IONS: Red card and yellow card accumulation suspensions earned in regular season games
will be served in that player’s next regular season game. Any suspension for yellow
card accumulation earned in a player’s last regular season game will carry over into
that season’s first playoff game for his team. Any player who receives a red card in his
team’s last game of the season (NASL regular season match or during playoff games),
will serve the one-game suspension during their next game (whether it comes during
a playoff game, championship series game, or in the first regular season game of the
following season). All card suspensions will, if necessary, follow a player to a new team.
SUSPE NS ION MAN I PU LAT ION: Players suspended from NASL games (regular season and playoff games) that are
called in for national team duty will have their suspensions held in abeyance until they
return to their NASL team. Teams will be responsible for informing the League Office
of a player’s selection to national team duty. Failure to provide the League Office with
such notice or to withhold the use of a suspended player when appropriate is subject
to sanctions.
LEAG U E STAN D I NGS: The team awarded the highest position in the League Standings will be the team with
the greatest number of points at the conclusion of the relevant season. In the event
that two or more teams have an equal number of points, the following system will be
used to determine rank in the League Standings:
