Casual clothing because character is young and is not in the army anymore.

Video - Question 6 - What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product Filming process difficult as we did shots that we didnt do, so we had to test out shots whether it fitted in well with our opening What we learnt about - Recording We need to be well equipped in terms of extra accessories/equipments such as camera batteries, tripod, steadicam, just in case we may require these accessories and equipments Editing sound This was a task which required precision, as sound had to be placed in the right place as well as playing it in the right times Editing video This was a task which was time consuming, from which we could improve our opening a lot because looked at other film openings to which we could make ours look similar. Softwares used iMovie I used this video editing software for my film opening analysis which I did for The Matrix and Captain America Filming Process We went through the three stages of filming, Pre-Production Location Research (Recce) we went of to Central London to see if we had the right location selected, we explored different areas within Central London. Casting We produced an audition type video with different people reading a script, from this we selected our cast. Test Shoot we produced a brief test shoot of what our opening may look like, we were happy with our test shoot. Institution We looked at different distribution companies and which suited our opening well. We chose Universal as they did more action films in terms of producing and distributing. Target Audience Research we conducted a research on different ages and genders asking them few questions based on the genre action. Billing Address I looked at three different action film opening focusing on their opening credits, from this we based our film opening credits. Other Film Openings (Students) I looked at various action film opening from other students and analysed its good and bad points and how we can make ours look professional. Shot List Before we went out to shoot, we created a shot list with all the possible shots we were going to use in our opening. We included many of which we experimented with different shots to see which comes out best. Script every film need a script, so we decided to go with no direct dialogue within the opening, as we wanted a voiceover. This is because we wanted our audience to keep focus on two things, which was the voiceover and footage. We made our script very powerful in terms of a short journey of our protagonist who describes his life in the army and his problems. Storyboard We created a storyboard with various different shots with many scenes so that we can see which scene or shot looks best at which place. Once everything was done, Janki started to create the storyboard for the group. Costumes & Props This we had to make sure we get right as costumes and props can connote a genre of a movie. However we didnt want to include a lot of props in our opening and only included one effective prop, which signifies a person in the army. Costumes were also looked at properly as we wanted the right costumes on our actors. Our target audience research had mentioned they expect suits in action films. From this we decided to include suits as part of our agents costumes. Production Shooting Once all the planning was done, we headed out to shoot St. Pauls, Blackfriars, Westminster, Monument Fight Scene Choreographed a fight scene in our opening as there was to much running scenes, which may get the audience bored. Post-Production Editing Once all the footage was gathered our editor, Vinay started to put all the footage together. Once all the footage was together we wanted our opening to look professional. Colour Grading Vinay had great knowledge on editing with experience in Premier Pro and After Effects. He had noticed that films are colour graded and action films tend to have a colour grading of a teal/blue colour. He experimented on different blues and once he was happy he consulted the group and gave him the go ahead Camera POV - Once the colour grading had been in process the group though of an idea of which could be adapted through editing. We decided that wanted an effect, which looks like a CCTV footage, once again Vinay did his research and provided with this effect. Music & Voiceover We wanted a background music playing on a low volume over the voice ever and then finish it of with dramatic music through the end. Vinay had created background music on Logic Pro. Whilst the editing was being touched up, Vinay and me decided to start creating the voiceover. Vinay had a professional mic set up, which he connected to his computer and music system, with headphones. Vinay played the music, which I could hear from the headphones, and from this I read my script. The fact that I could hear the music allowed me to vary my speed of talking, whether I had to go speed up or slow down. Foley Sound We wanted our opening to be realistic and natural for this to happen we had to include natural background sounds such as, cars passing by, footsteps, breathing, punch sounds.

Video - Question 7 - Looking back at your preliminary task, what do your feel your have learnt in the progression from it to the full product Continuity Editing we definitely needed to have continuity editing as this is what makes a film natural and makes our opening flow in an order. Varity of Shots - A lot more shots and angles used compared to preliminary task Establishing Shot Wide Shot Mid Shot Close-Up Low Angle High Angle Extreme Close-Up POV Worms Eye View Long Shot Improvements of Location This has improved drastically as we have switched from internal to external and that to, to a famous tourist attraction location, which is known in the UK. Props Preliminary task had props such as books and pens, although our opening does not have a lot of props. Costumes We really focused on costumes for our opening as for our preliminary we didnt as we just recorded it on a day with what ever our actors were wearing. Dialogue during our dialogue stage for our preliminary we didnt really create a fixed script with some dialogue being improved, whereas for our opening the group sat down and discussed how we can portray and give a narrative of our protagonists life to the audience. Improvements Planning I feel that our planning has improved compared to our preliminary task. Our preliminary task was done in one day within around 1-2 hours, as our planning wasnt really good. For opening we scheduled our shooting with correct planning looking at when our actors are free and available to film. Storyboard I think that we did well on our storyboard, as we didnt have one for our preliminary task. For our opening we needed a storyboard as we wanted to produce the professional stages required whilst making a film Organization I would say that our organization for our opening was our strongest point, as we needed an effective organization of which we as groups comprised very well together. Others thoughts We had got some great and positive feedback from our audience as well as family and friends.
