Our film In our film we were trying to accurately

portray mental disorders and how someone can feel trapped by Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. The aim was to for an audience to see how our character was trapped by ocd, have a view into how she might view the world and how hopeless it appears and see her break through her mental disorder.

Advertising products The theme of our film I feel was reflected

accurately in our advertising products. In our poster we used the image of the notepad and pens lined up- which is used in the film to convey our characters obsession with order. We also used a black and white filter on the poster- much like in the film to make it appear dark and depressing. We tried to stray away from any horror aspects as we didn’t want to confuse our audience as it may appear to be a horror film from how dark it seems. In our radio trailer we tried to convey how dark we wanted our film to be. We made the trailer sound quite serious and, again, tried to stray away from the horror genre, which I feel was much easier to do with our radio trailer as we could directly identify what the film was about.

I feel our products sell our film quite well, our poster doesn’t directly address the topic of our film- which it maybe should but it certainly shows the depressing theme we tried to convey. We used a shot of our film to create this poster so it’s very true to the film, it doesn’t show anything that’s not in the film. It also references main themes such as the main character’s obsession with making notes- they’re shown around the border of the poster. I feel it would be quite easily for someone to recognise that this film is a psychological thriller from this poster as it doesn’t show many aspects of other genres and it’s also a point of view shot shown. I also feel our radio trailer works quite effectively, it helps us attract a wider audience and address what our film is really about.

Comparison To make our poster I did research into other films from this

genre and how their poster conveys they film. I looked at the film Momento, I feel this poster is quite similar to our own as it shows a main icon in the film- photographs which is similar to how we use notes in our films. It’s clear this film has a very seriously topic, you can see concern on the actors faces, this is effective but is not something we used in our own poster. Mr Brooks is also a psychological thriller but the poster differs quite a lot from our own, it could be confused with a horror genre with the use of a red border that could signify blood. We also did research into radio trailers and how they convey the genre. I feel our own trailer seems to fit with what we have looked at, giving quite a basic view of our film and making it clear to the audience what it is about.
