Discuss the issues raised by media ownership within a media area you have studied Introduction: I will be looking at the British film industry in which I will show the contrast and comparison of two films for example guardians of the galaxy and pride this will determine and show what makes a British film. The movie pride is an independent studio because it has been produced from a small company. A disadvantage that an independent studio that produces films like pride has over a conglomerate is that they don’t have as big of a budget this means that they won’t be able to use as many special effects, less money for locations and not as well-known actors to play parts. The budget for this film was $1,446,634. However the company Marvel is a conglomerate studio. The budget for the film guardians of the galaxy’s was 170,000,000 this is a big sum of money that was used to employee well-known actors and for the special affects like the use of animation used throughout. The company Marvel is a cross media convergence this gives an advantage over the independent studios because this means that they will be able to keep most of the money. However for an independent studio this is not the case because they are not cross media convergence which means that most of the money will be needed to pay the staff. For a company like Marvel they have established audiences in which they can always count on to watch their films like a fan base that the audience they aim at will guarantee a return
