DSLR Camera

DSLR cameras are a consumer-grade cameras that range from quite cheap to very expensive. They can get very high resolution images, and allow the user to shoot in a lot of different ways. There are extensive features that give a huge range of different shots, for instance the user can change the FPS/video quality, the ISO, aperture and shutter speed. There are also lots of different lenses that can be fitted to the front of a camera to give it special qualities like zoom, or even just improve the general quality.

Tripod

The tripod is a piece of equipment used to keep a camera steady. It is a very valuable asset to most low budget productions as it allows for professional shots anywhere due to it being so mobile. Most tripods also allow for steady panning and tilting and can make for very professional scenes. This will be great for my music video, as I will be filming in multiple locations at different times and I will always need steady shots.

Dolly

A dolly allows for the user to have a panning shot that is very steady and professional. This will stop shots looking shaky and bad, however the user will have make sure the surface they are filming on is flat.

Camera lens

Camera lenses can be very effective when used with DSLRs. They can give the camera new features like zoom or manual focus, or simply make the quality a lot better. These can be great for me when filming, as the professional look they provide for a low budget production is very desirable.

Green screen/morph suit

A green screen or green suit is used in films to create various illusions and effects in post production. Using bright green objects, the colour can be keyed out of the video causing it to be cut from the video. This will be very helpful for me, as I can move things around in the suit, an then chroma key the green out so it looks like the objects are moving themselves.

Handheld steady cam

A handheld steady cam allows low budget producers to create professional shots with low cost. The camera attaches to the top of the steady cam, and the user can hold it to have a moving camera keep steady. Without it, the shots could be really shaky and unprofessional.
