The trailer begins with a close-up shot of a character

we are not familiar with. We immediately recognise

her as Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie but we dont

know her significance in the film. However there is asense that Angelina may be one of the key characters

in the film as she is in focus and there are 2 black

males in the background out of focus.We hear a males voice

saying we got a walk-in,the defector. We arent

shown who says this

symbolising his character

isnt important.

The music is slow whichmay indicate to us the

nothing exciting is going to

happen but we should

listen to what is being s



There is close-up of an unmasked

man lasting for no more than a

second.

We also assume that this man is a

significant character as he is in focus

but Angelina isnt.

There is then a shot of a neuro-scan of a persons brain. This shot

siginifies that we are in a quite hi-

tech area which is probably

controlled by the government



A white man then calls on Angelinas

character. He says Evelyn and then

Evelyn who we now is Angelinascharacter walks and puts something

on a table. The shot is too quick too

figure out what it is but the fact that

we are shown this item signifies it is

of some importance.

As she is sitting down the music

starts to become quieter. This may

indicate to us that some important

dialogue is about to proceed.



This shot is important because the smug look

on Evelyns face tells us that she is

comfortable being in this room alone with this

man. She may have been in this situation

many times before so she knows how to

handle it.



This shot is to indicate to us that the people in the

other room are listening to their conversation.

The lighting in the room is dark and drab givingthe scene a metallic and hi-tech look emphasizing

the fact that the place is very important and

probably run by the government.



A lot of clips are used as Orlov

is telling his story. These clips

relate to different part of his

story. The shots of the city

As the man is talking about anagent called K12 there are

clips of somebody killing

attacking two men with a knife

in their shoe. We may assume

that this is the agent the man is

talking about



Evelyn has had enough and heads to the door but the man reveals

the real name of the agent which happens to be Evelyn Salt; the

name of Evelyn. The fact that the shot has Evelyn out of focus

shows us that at this point Evelyn is not the one we should be

focusing on as the man has something very important to say. Also

the fact that when she walks off Orlov doesnt turn to look at her

gives makes him look like hes in control and that he has no fear of

her doing anything behind his back so the smugness is now with

him.



In these two shots we see the smug look on Evelyns

face disintegrate into this scared but not showing it

face as Orlov tells her she is a Russian spy. We know

that she hasnt faced information like this before



This is our first title

screen.

Mettalic writing in serif font on

a black background. The name

of the production company.



These shots show Evelyn fleeing the

scene. The shot of the security cameras

tells us that she is fleeing a very well

guarded area and it will be very hard for

her to escape unnoticed and this backed

up by the black man saying where is

she going?



There are quick cuts. These cuts are used to speed up

the tempo and tell us that something exciting Is going to

happen.

This shot reminds us that she

is still being watched and that

escape will not be easy. The

high angle shot makes her

look vulnerable and weak.



The sense of Evelyns vulnerability and

weakness is soon covered by the sense

of strength and courage as this low

angle shot of her holding a fire

extinguisher with a tube and

something in the tube is used.



A fast paced Montage of Evelyn trying to escape from thepeople she once worked with is used. The music has now

been introduced and it is very fast paced to match the

clips.

This is connected to the last title screen which now

forms the question Who is Salt?
