  • 1. EVALUATION What I have learned from audience feedback

2. Media A2 Trailer 3. POLL DADDY When beginning to think of ideas for my trailer I wanted to find out what genres are most popular. I used the website Poll Daddy in order to construct a Poll that asked viewers the question What is your favourite genre? with a list of options. From this I found out that comedy was most popular but following close behind wasThriller. I then decided to create a gangster film as it represents the Thriller/Action genres well and it fits into quite a big audience as everyone loves a gangster film. 4. AUDIENCE FEEDBACK DURING CONSTRUCTION An excellent start with clear evidence that you understand your genre and are getting to grips with the software. To improve you need to be aware of details in your film (its spelt vengeance) and get some more shots done. You should dress your actors and get them to rehearse the scenes before filming. Perhaps the sink scene is not the best opening shot? Great blogging and good visuals. Get some more key shots done soon. You have made a clear effort to cover all the criteria and your time management is excellent. To improve you should ensure there is some form of cliff hanger or disequilibrium in your trailer to make people go and see the film. Perhaps a snatch of dialogue would help the audience identify with your main character more. Sound effects of gunfire etc would also help. 5. FURTHER FEEDBACK After filming and posting my clips and trailer progress on to myYouTube I was able to gather useful feedback from my peers and teachers in my media class. I class the members of my class as part of my target audience because they fit into my target criteria. My media class were a great help as they are also learning about the different genre conventions so they were able to give me some constructive criticism which enabled me to better my trailer and complete it to a professional standard. Most feedback obtained was exchanged verbally and some commented on to my blog in order to help me.The feedback has taught me that none of my media productions are perfected and something can always be changed in order to make it better. 6. After posting pictures such as the one shown previously, I gained helpful feedback from my teacher telling me my work was dramatic and that it represented the gangster theme well. From this feed back I concluded that my work was coming together well and that my audiences are interested. I learned from my feedback also that I need to change some of my clips as they didnt fit the conventions as well as others. 7. AUDIENCE FEEDBACK AFTER CONSTRUCTION The trailer works well as a trailer and persuades me to go and watch the film. The sound and editing work hand in hand to give the audience a thrilling and on-edge experience. The title heading that fade in and out work well as they match the theme and look highly professional. If I was to give one piece of constructive criticism it would be to make sure all clips represent and meet the conventions of a gangster film. The previous comment was from one of the members of my target audience who enjoy gangster/thriller films. The comments they made were useful in helping me understand what went well with in my trailer. The comment of the sound and editing working hand-in-hand, showed that the editing and sound was synchronized perfectly and made the trailer work well as a trailer. I agree with the criticism that not all of my clips fitted the typical conventions as I was limited to environments to film, but I tried to counter the negative by changing the colors corrections of the film in order to make the clips that may not of fitted the conventions well look more dark and gritty in order to fit the film noire theme. 8. AUDIENCE FEEDBACK AFTER CONSTRUCTION (2) The beginning of the film works very well, when the actor lights up the cigar, as it sets the standard and feeling of the trailer and film. The lighting of the film works well, starting with the dark gloomy room at the start then transitioning soon after into the graveyard when the sun is shining down. The previous comment taught me that the gangster conventions that I have used such as the cigar at the beginning works well in setting the theme and mood of the film. The transitioning of different light areas was meant to represent the different moods for example, the dark room that was mentioned was meant to be kind of mysterious, where as the action scene in the graveyard I wanted to be bright and thrilling for the audience. 9. POSTER FEEDBACK Audience Feedback During Construction 10. HOW THE FEEDBACK HELPED ME This feed back enabled me to find out that I have matched most of the poster criteria and that my time management with in construction was very good. This feed back taught me that I have to make the poster more interesting or add something to the poster to make the audience want to go and watch the film. I was happy with the outcome of my poster and thought that I would only have to add a few more things in order for it to be finished. 11. FEEDBACK FROM PORTRAIT POSTER The design of your poster matches the theme of the trailer and looks very artistic and authentic. The colors from the match work well in making the feeling of the poster dark and gloomy. The picture of the character is kind of what I expected to see from a gangster film, as the mise-en-scene matches the genre. With the poster being dark and mysterious, It makes me want to see the film more as I want to know what it is about. I am really pleased with this piece of audience feedback as I feel it is positive and gives my poster a good reputation. From the feedback I have learned that I am a capable student in creating posters, which follow strict conventions, layout, effects etc. I know that my poster now works well in creating a good mood for the audience and matches the themes of the other pieces of work. I have also learned that I have managed to create a good image, and title for my film, which are very important features of a film poster. 12. AUDIENCE FEEDBACK OF LANDSCAPE VERSION After showing my audience the Landscape version of my poster I was given some great feedback. This film poster works very well, even more so than the portrait version. The layout of the text and sub text is very professional. The picture of the character is interesting and intriguing, and the colors used match the picture ingeniously. I personally think the picture and the text compliment the theme and conventions of the film genre well. The feedback above was from one of the members of my target audience. It gave me a lot of postive points from my poster. Fro the comment above I have learned that the decisions made on layout spacing and coloring were perfect and professional. 13. Audience Feedback During Construction Magazine Cover feedback 14. AUDIENCE FEEDBACK OF PHOTO CHOSEN In the previous slide showed the photo I chose for my magazine front cover. I obtained information and feedback from my target audience on what they thought of it. I think the photo is very intriguing, as it shows the emotion and detail of the characters face. The clothes worn by the character work well in representing the theme of the poster. From my understanding of the conventional gangsters, I think that the character works well in showing this, for example with the slick back hair and beard. From the feedback above I learned that the character I have chose fitted the profile of a gangster well fitting a number of different conventions. 15. FEEDBACK OF FILM MAGAZINE COVER I asked a member of my target audience with in my media class for feedback on my trailer. I did this as I thought they would have the most understanding on what conventions and commodities a professional film magazine cover would have. This magazine follows some of the usual conventions of film magazine for example, the picture is a close up of someone looking at the camera which works well as it make eye contact with the audience and makes them want to watch the film. Another common convention is the big masthead of the magazine which is bright and appealing. The layout of the text works well as everything is spaced accordingly and looks professional. The colors on the front match the themes of a gangster film well, with the blacks, whites and burgundies. One improvement that could be made but is not necessary, could be to include more subheadings about what inside the magazine in order to draw the audience in more. From this audience feedback I can easily say I successfully and professionally created a film cover magazine that works well and matches the themes and conventions of a real magazine poster. I think my desgin is simplistic but artistic at the same time which works well.
