Welcome to Kissimmee 2011 at Osceola Heritage Park! Whether you are here in person, watching live on Discovery’s HD Theater, or viewing over the Internet via the Mecum InfoNet Webcast, we trust that you will enjoy your Mecum Kissimmee experience. Kissimmee is truly “where the cars are”, and as the kick off event for Mecum’s 2011 schedule, this is THE largest collector car auction in January. And if you think this is big … Mecum is proud to offer over 7,500 vehicles for sale in 2011. And there’s more -- tractors, boats, motorcycles, special events and more are also headed your way in 2011. After Kissimmee, Mecum travels back to the Midwest for our Spring Kansas City event March 11-12 at the Kansas City Convention Center, where a stunning 1965 Corvette Convertible with coveted Bloomington Gold “Benchmark” honors will lead the way. And then … the “Big Daddy” of them all, the 24th year of The Original Spring Classic, where the Indiana State Fairgrounds will play host to 2000 classic cars, at the world’s LARGEST collector car auction! Hang on to your hat, this will be an epic year!

Mecum Auctions has been specializing in the sale of collector cars for over 23 years, and has become America’s largest Collector Car Auction Company offering over 7,500 vehicles per year. My car is on the auction block... Now what?MECUM101

exceed its reserve price; however, in some cases the bidding on your car may not meet your reserve, and as bidding slows the Seller’s Assistant may

ask if you would like to “lift your reserve” while on the auction block. Lifting the

reserve means that your car will now be sold to the highest bidder and can, in many cases, generate additional enthusiasm, momentum, and even new

bidders. There are many bidders who will wait until a reserve is lifted before

they even begin to bid, and therefore lifting a reserve can result in a hammer price that meets or even exceeds expectations. So, for best results, when your car is set to cross the block make sure you are right beside it … and rest assured the Mecum Auction block staff is ready to help maximize your opportunity to have the next car “SOLD!” M

So you have consigned a car at a Mecum event, you have the Reserve price set, and your car is about to roll onto the Auction block. Now you just wait to see if your reserve is met or exceeded, right? Wrong! For best results, it is very important that you be physically WITH your car as it approaches the auction block. This allows prospective buyers and the auction staff to get any last minute questions answered about the specifics of your car. Once your car has moved into the “On Deck” position, you will be approached by a Mecum Seller’s Representative. The Seller’s Rep is there to answer any questions that you may have about the upcoming auction of your car. Mecum’s goal is to have every car meet or

Special Geyman Collection Offered at No Reserve

GONE FARMIN’SPRING CROP

After the success of last year’s inaugural Gone Farmin’ auction, Mecum Auctions has expanded its schedule to three vintage tractor events in 2011, kicking off with the Gone Farmin’ Spring Tractor Auction, March 26, 2011 in Walworth, Wisconsin. Featuring 150 tractors up for bid, the Gone Farmin’ Spring Tractor Auction is highlighted by the Tom Geyman Collection – a group of investment-grade tractors offered at No Reserve. Among the tractors to be sold is an expertly restored 1966 International 1206 (Lot S33) and a 1961 International 660

Wheatland (Lot S40). “We are excited to bring Tom’s collection to the public to showcase his intense passion for restoring investment-grade tractors,” said Dan Mecum, operations manager for Mecum Auctions. “Hobbyists, collectors and admirers are encouraged to attend our Spring Gone Farmin’ Auction, which is free to the general public and takes place on a 10-acre property off Highway 14 near Lake Geneva.” Mecum is currently accepting new consignments and bidder registration for the Gone Farmin’ Spring 2011 Tractor Auction. Motorcycle enthusiasts have waited patiently for their niche in the collector market to be featured by major auction companies. For decades, the collector car market has eclipsed the collector motorcycle industry’s rich heritage and huge growth potential. Dana Mecum’s passion for offering rare and unique consignments is reflected in the emergence of Mecum’s new motorcycle division. With legendary motocross and road race promoter Gavin Trippe leading the department, Mecum plans to add rare and significant collector motorcycles to the docket at Indianapolis in May and Monterey in August.

Gavin Trippe, a member of the American Motorcyclist Association Hall of Fame, brings over 45 years of motorcycle knowledge to the Mecum team. A journalist, publisher and promoter since 1965, Gavin organized and executed the 2006 and 2007 Monterey Classic Bike Auctions. With heralded manufacturers such as Benelli, Bohmerland and Fabrique Nationale headlining his consignment list, Trippe established his reputation for bringing world-class collector motorcycles to market. Soon, American and European motorcycles of all strokes will flank collector cars across the Mecum auction block. Without a doubt, Mecum will bring the best bikes to the block in 2011. For motorcycle collectors, the time has come. Contact Gavin Trippe to consign your classic motorcycle today. M

MEET THE MECUM TEAMCHRISTINE GIOVINGO has worked diligently for Mecum since 2006 in a variety of positions. Christine’s unparalleled multi-tasking abilities are currently being applied in the Presentation Department, where she maintains the Mecum website. From uploading photos sent by Consignors to ensuring that information is properly presented, if you see it on the website then chances are Christine put it there. In September 2009 she joined the traveling auction staff where she now manages the online bidding process on the block. “My job reflects how Mecum Auctions is seen by the world, and I thrive on that responsibility.” M

DAN and CAROL DUCKWORTH are a team within the team at Mecum Auctions. Both are a significant part of the auction process, and many are unaware what they are actually doing on the block. At first glance, it might appear that opening and closing hoods for prospective bidders is their primary function; however, it goes well beyond their poised stance and smiling faces. The Duckworths are continuously working hand in hand with the auction staff to keep the process flowing properly from start to finish, holding one of the most important jobs on the block. Dan and Carol reside in Eagle River, WI where together they own and operate a 2 cycle crankshaft rebuilding company for snowmobiles, watercraft, ATVs, motorcycles, and high performance engines. Both avid car lovers, Carol enjoys driving her 1986 Corvette, while Dan bleeds Pontiac blood as he works to completely restore his 1968 GTO Convertible. M
