1. Write a short essay on the prospects and requirements of Mechatronics education in Bangladesh. (5) Answer: prospects: Like other parts of the world, here in Bangladesh, we are living in the age of industrial revolution. Mechatronics engineers design, build and operate intelligent products and systems of today and for tomorrow. These engineers will be increasingly in demand as more industries seek to apply evolutionary advances in computers, electronics, sensor san actuators to improve products processes and services.The integration between component (hardware) and the information drive functions (software) results in integrated systems (mechatronic systems).Mechatronics is still an emerging field and can sometimes be labelled as Asset Management. Opprtunity in the industry: 1. Develop new solutions to industrial problems using mechanical and electronic processes and computer technology. 2. Design and build completely new products by integrating various technologies, for example, automating process control for areas such as underwater exploration 3. Build and test factory production lines combining manufacturing and technologies to improve existing processes 4. Maintain and improve previous industrial and manufacturing processes and designs, for example, robotic lawn movers and robot floor cleaners Working environment for engineers: Mechatronic engineers may work in a laboratory, processing plant or engineering office.There are also research opportunities in nanotechnology, robotics, by-wire technologies for motor vehicles, bioengineering and other developing fields. some University have mechatronics department for studying mechatronics engineering(for example: World University of Bangladesh). Strong demand exists from large global enterprises in automotive, aerospace and consumer products industries and in smaller innovative ‘high tech’ companies supplying software parts and equipment.Mechatronic engineers may also be employed by product developers, manufacturing, mining or forestry industries, aerospace and defence, government and industry research groups. so we can say from above discussion that there is huge prospects of mechatronics education in Bangladesh. Not only our industry but also our life style is going to be automated. Besides, in our other aspects of life (for example: agriculture, medical science,control engineering)we need mechatronics knowledge.In order to get knowledge in this area, Mechatronic engineers need a Bachelor’s degree.s. Although Bangladesh has some university offering courses regarding mechatronics engineering, but i think it’s not enough for increasing demand for mechatronics education. we have very few universities having mechatronics department. most of the university offer courses regarding mechatronics under the supervision of either mechanical or electrical engineering department. we need seperate department for mechatronics engineering. moreover, we need advanced laboratory facilities (for example: machine vision and precision engineering laboratory,robotics and automation laboratory). Besides, we should take a mental preparation for adjusting with this new technological revolution & come forward to study & use this knowledge in our professional life.2. Describe the future trends of Mechatronics Engineering in various sectors in Bangladesh. (5)

Answer: Mechatronics engineering will establish new trends in the factory, office and home in Bangladesh perspective. The principles of mechatronics will be felt in every aspect of our society sooner or later. Mechatronics principles are already apparent in many of the new products being imported from Japan.the trends of mechatronics in bangladesh can be divided into three main catagory. they are office, home & factory automation. Although this is not the only sector getting touched by world mechatronics revolution. Today in bangladesh mechatronic modules & system find wide application in the following area.

➢ Machine-tool construction and equipment for automation of technological processes;

➢ Robotics (industrial and special);➢ Aviation, space and military techniques;➢ Motor car construction (for example, antiblocking brake system (ABS), systems of car movement

stabilization and automatic parking);➢ Non-conventional vehicles (electro bicycles, cargo carriages, electro scooters, invalid car-riages);➢ Office equipment (for example, copy and fax machines);➢ Computer facilities (for example, printers, plotters, disk drives);➢ Medical equipment (rehabilitation, clinical, service);➢ Home appliances (washing, sewing and other machines);➢ Micro machines (for medicine, biotechnology, means of telecommunications);➢ Control and measuring devices and machines;➢ Photo and video equipment;➢ Simulators for training of pilots and operators;

Over the last two decades it has come to mean sophisticated intelligent products -- employing optics, energetics, computer science, automatic control and other disciplines -- and now encompasses new software technologies, network robotics and network production. With the growth of miniaturization techniques, there has been a growth of application of microelectronics to mechatronic devices such as sensors, actuators, engines, machines and robots, with possible future applications in the fields of chemistry and biology, as well as in engineering.
