MasterofScienceinMechanicalEngineeringThisprograminvolvesmoderncomputationalandexperimentalmethodsknowledgeandskillswhichareofimmediatepracticalimportance.Thisknowledgeiscommunicatedintheadvancedcoursesandusedintheconductofathesisorproject.TheareasofstudywithintheMSMEprograminclude:

Tobeconsideredforadmission,thegraduateapplicantmusthaveearnedabachelor'sdegreefromanaccreditedinstitution,havebeeningoodstandingatthelastinstitutionattended,andhaveagradepointaverage(GPA)ofatleast2.7forthelast60(semester)or90(quarter)upperdivisionmajorunitsattempted.ThegeneralGraduateRecordExamination(GRE)isrequired.

Prerequisites

1.Abachelor'sdegreeinanaccreditedcurriculuminMechanicalEngineering,orotherappropriatediscipline,withaminimumgradepointaverageof2.70inthelast60(semester)or90(quarter)upperdivisionmajorunitsattempted.

2.StudentsmustconsultwiththeMSMEgraduateadvisorpriortoenrollinginanycoursesfortheirprogram.

2.Sixunitsofelectivesselectedfromapprovedgraduateor400levelcoursesfromappropriateareas

3.CompletionofsixunitsofMAE698Thesisandsubmissionofawrittenthesis.

AdvancementtoCandidacy

Priortoformallystartingtheirthesisorproject(registeringforMAE697or698),studentsmustapplyforAdvancementtoCandidacy.StudentsapplyingforAdvancementtoCandidacymust:

1.HavecompletedALLundergraduatedeficiencieswithgradesof"C"orbetter

2.Haveattainedanoverallgradepointaverage(GPA)of3.0

3.Havecompletedatleast12unitsapplicabletothedegreewithaGPAofatleast3.0

4.Havecompletedatleast12unitsapplicabletothedegreewithaGPAofatleast3.0

5.HavefulfilledtheGraduationWritingAssessmentRequirement(GWAR).ThisrequirementcanalsobemetbypresentingevidencethatthestudentmettherequirementwhileanundergraduateatCSULBoratcertainCSUcampuses.

6.Havetheirprogramofstudiesapprovedbythefacultycoordinatingtheirareaofemphasis,theMEprogramgraduateadvisor,anddepartmentchair.
