A student is College and Career Ready when…
Identify. Inform. Improve.
a) they have passed all state tests at the proficient or passing level
b) they have received a high school diploma
c) they have graduated with honors/straight A’s from high school
d) they have applied and been accepted into a post-secondary institution (vocational school, university, or community college)
![Page 10: Measuring Progress Towards College and Career Readiness](https://reader034.fdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022051412/54c189504a795991038b45a2/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
College and Career Readiness is a bigger concept.
Identify. Inform. Improve.
![Page 11: Measuring Progress Towards College and Career Readiness](https://reader034.fdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022051412/54c189504a795991038b45a2/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
How does NCEA define College and Career Readiness?
Identify. Inform. Improve.
When a student has reached an academic achievement level that indicates they are likely to have success in post-secondary learning that leads to skilled careers, then they are college and career ready.
![Page 12: Measuring Progress Towards College and Career Readiness](https://reader034.fdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022051412/54c189504a795991038b45a2/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
How do we measure progress towards College and Career Readiness?
Identify. Inform. Improve.
The Big Question
![Page 13: Measuring Progress Towards College and Career Readiness](https://reader034.fdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022051412/54c189504a795991038b45a2/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
How?

College Readiness Benchmarks?

One Method:
Identify. Inform. Improve.
Using State Standards
![Page 15: Measuring Progress Towards College and Career Readiness](https://reader034.fdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022051412/54c189504a795991038b45a2/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)

But is it enough?
Identify. Inform. Improve.
![Page 17: Measuring Progress Towards College and Career Readiness](https://reader034.fdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022051412/54c189504a795991038b45a2/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)

What about commended or advanced?
Identify. Inform. Improve.
![Page 21: Measuring Progress Towards College and Career Readiness](https://reader034.fdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022051412/54c189504a795991038b45a2/html5/thumbnails/21.jpg)
Now we know…
Identify. Inform. Improve.
Passing/Proficient is not enough.
Commended/Advanced is not anchored to anything and varies from state to state.
College Readiness Benchmarks
![Page 22: Measuring Progress Towards College and Career Readiness](https://reader034.fdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022051412/54c189504a795991038b45a2/html5/thumbnails/22.jpg)
NCEA’s Approach to Measuring Progress Towards College and Career Readiness
Identify. Inform. Improve.
Identify College and Career Readiness Targets anchored to ACT’s College Readiness Benchmarks
![Page 23: Measuring Progress Towards College and Career Readiness](https://reader034.fdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022051412/54c189504a795991038b45a2/html5/thumbnails/23.jpg)
Identifying College and Career Readiness Targets
How does NCEA do this?
1. Linking to ACT College Readiness Benchmarks
2. Backwards-Mapping the Target3. Establish Students’ Yearly
Growth Goals
Identify. Inform. Improve.
![Page 24: Measuring Progress Towards College and Career Readiness](https://reader034.fdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022051412/54c189504a795991038b45a2/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
Keeping Students on the Path to College and Career Readiness
NCEA’s CCR Ramp is a defined path to get students to college and career readiness.
• Students on the ramp must experience average growth to stay on the ramp.
• Students below the ramp must achieve faster than average growth.
Identify. Inform. Improve.
![Page 25: Measuring Progress Towards College and Career Readiness](https://reader034.fdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022051412/54c189504a795991038b45a2/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)
Another Big Question…
Identify. Inform. Improve.
When do we start measuring progress towards College and Career Readiness?
![Page 26: Measuring Progress Towards College and Career Readiness](https://reader034.fdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022051412/54c189504a795991038b45a2/html5/thumbnails/26.jpg)
Even earlier?

Resources for Measuring Progress• Using formative tests to check student
achievement along the way (e.g. benchmark assessments)
• Summative tests to see if students have reached College and Career Readiness standards (ACT’s College Readiness System)
