The ‘3dM’ MethodologyThe new ‘3dM’ methods combine mathematics and programming such
that a new metrology could be created. This ‘3D Metrology’ is to be understood as being complementary to the
International System of Meter / Kilogram / Second.
The ‘3D Metrology’ is characterized by• physical, chemical and biological phenomena are differentiated
into different levels of order of scale while using light as ‘common denominator’
• within these ‘frames of investigation’, known length and time scales, wavelengths and frequencies are translated into new ‘3dM Qualities’
• these new ‘3dM Qualities’ can be quantified and thus become comparable.

The prototype ‘Visual Data Intelligence’ was used to visualize data from the human genome.
www.wellcome.org proposed a link which contains 137 tissues and 33690 probes from which were selected:

From the Generalto the Specific
Thanks to software, the ‘3dM’ methodology creates a new general framework, within which specialised data can be newly represented so that new knowledge can be gained:
• for the solution of scientific challenges• and for the development of new products
– through the comparability of measures that have hitherto not been comparable
– or the measurability of qualitative indicators that have hitherto not been quantifiable, such as:
• porosity, granularity, roughness.
