Maintaining present systems Step 1: Replace Sun with PXI, keep MXI-VME Advantages:

Replacement of all Sun based systems

All Sun based measurement systems will need to be replaced (B180 Magnet Rescue Facility, B181, B867, …)

Not part of the SC laboratory review, but to be kept in mind

Recommendation Plan 1: maintenance.

Replace all Sun measurement stations with PXI processors, keeping the VME crates and modules.

Plan 2: upgrade. Develop one pilot DAQ system in PXI for validation. Replace all DAQ systems with PXI system.

B163 Plan 1: maintenance, replace Sun workstations. Plan 2: replace DVMs with PXI if needed for higher speed.

B165 Can be maintained as is (no Sun workstations) For new measurement systems PXI should be considered.
