Rev 9/2017

In 1988 when voters approved Measure A, Riverside County’s half-cent sales tax for transportation, they set in motion a proactive response to growing congestion by spelling out a list of transportation projects to address the problem.

RCTC has ensured that the $1 billion raised by Measure A from 1989 to 2009 has made a significant difference on virtually every major roadway in the County. Commuter rail, public transit, and commuters have also received benefits.

Funds go back to each of three districts: Western Riverside County, the Coachella Valley, and Palo Verde, in proportion to what they contribute.

In addition to major highway and transit projects, funding is also provided to improve local streets an roads. Since the renewal of Measure A in 2009, a total of $251,106,694 was provided to the cities and county. Measure A, along with local, state and Federal funding will be necessary to continue to fund transportation improvements through 2039.
