Have you learned some new terms in the past few weeks? Had you ever heard the term “physical distancing” before? New terms and new ways of delivering meals are causing some anxiety for participants and volunteers. We all react differently to stressful situations. It is essential to keep things in perspec-tive, get the facts and ignore the rumors.

Important Terms To Know

Stay At Home Order - This is a stricter form of physical distanc-ing and means that you should stay at home except for access-ing essential services. A stay at home order is enforceable by lay enforcement. At this time, authorities are encouraging vol-untary cooperation when a Stay At Home Order is issued.

Physical Distancing is a way to keep people from interacting closely or frequently enough to spread Covid-19.

Quarantine separates and restricts the movement of people who may have been exposed to Covid-19 to see if they become sick. Individuals will stay quarantined long enough to ensure that they have not contracted Covid-19.

Isolation prevents the spread of Covid-19 by separating people who are sick from those who are not. Individuals will remain isolated as long as they are contagious.

BIRTHDAYS!

Volunteers

Every 10 Years, the United States counts everyone who lives in the country, from newborn babies to the oldest among us. It is important for everyone to complete the 2020 Census so that our communities can be accurately funded and represented. • Your 2020 Census questionnaire will come to you

in the mail. • Responding is important. The 2020 Census will influence community funding and

congressional representation for the next 10 years. This includes money for things like infrastructure, health care, and food assistance.

• Responding is easy. You can respond to the census online, by phone, or by mail.

Choose the option most comfortable for you. Large-print guides to the questionnaire are available upon request. During the early summer months, Census takers will visit households that have not yet responded and can assist you if you need help com-pleting your form.

• Responding is safe. Your personal information is safe, secure and protected by federal

law.. Your answers can only be used to produce statistics. They cannot be used against you by any government agency or court in any way..

Keep Meals on Wheels Rowan in mind when planning

your annual and legacy giving.

The Census Counts Every Generation.

The South Rowan Y Service Club partners with us one day during March each year to deliver our South Rowan routes. Several members deliver a route every month or serve as substitute drivers when another volunteer cannot deliver. It takes the com-bined efforts of individuals and groups to help us feed the home-bound seniors in our communi-ties.

Welcome to Steven & Pam Forrest (above) new volun-teers on our Cleveland/Woodleaf route!

Mollie Beck (above) of Autumn Care Salisbury brought crocheted lap throws to give to our meal recipients! Autumn Care delivers once a month.

Gloria Rankin (above) is one of our Super Subs! She is available to deliver any of our Salisbury routes when the regular volunteer is unable to deliver. Gloria also helps with special events such as the BBQ fundraiser.

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church treated all of the participants on the Mt. Ulla route to BBQ Chicken plates during our BBQ fundraiser. Alice Weaver & Sally Morgan (above) delivered the delicious meals.
