Bidders are hereby advised of the following lane closure restrictions:

Work requiring a lane closure shall begin within one (1) hour of completion of the closure setup. The Contractor will be assessed a lane rental fee of $400.00 per closure for each full or partial five (5) minute period should failure to begin work within the allotted time occur. Lane closures will be allowed only at times when work requiring a lane closure is underway except as follows:

1) Lane closures may remain in place overnight for the following:

• To allow for cooling of a lift of hot/warm mix asphalt. • To restrict public access to a section of roadway that has been cold milled

resulting in a longitudinal drop off that exceeds the Department’s allowable drop –off policy.

• To restrict public access to a section of roadway that is undergoing full depth concrete repair.

2) Lane closures that remain in place overnight shall comply with the requirements of the plans for Extended Period lane closures.

3) No lane closures will be allowed on holidays such as New Year’s Day, Memorial

Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and the day preceding each holiday. In the event that any of the afore mentioned holidays occurs during a weekend or on a Monday, lane closures will not be allowed during that weekend or on the Friday immediately preceding the holiday. For Thanksgiving Day, lane closures will not be allowed the Wednesday preceding through the Sunday following the holiday.

4) Approval for work on Saturdays requiring a lane closure shall be requested by the

Contractor by letter to the Project Engineer no later than 48 hours preceding the Saturday of the proposed closure

5) The maximum amount of time for the public to travel on a milled surface on the

mainline and crossroads will be 48 hours. The maximum lane closure length will be 3 miles.

6) Sunday Work will not be permitted.

7) If the lane closure restrictions listed above are violated, the Contractor will be charged a fee according to the above listed rental rate until the roadway is back in compliance with the applicable lane closure restriction requirement.
