With more than 2,000 highly respected physicians, our medical staff represents virtually every medical and surgical specialty and subspecialty. And many of these physicians are at the forefront of their respective fields, leading or participating in more than 500 investigational research projects aimed at developing new cures and treatment methods.

Pregnancy and Childbirth

Around Seattle, Swedish is known as “the baby hospital.” And for good reason. Every year, Swedish delivers more than 7,000 babies. Swedish is home to the state’s largest Perinatal Medicine Program for high-risk pregnancies, and our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provides the region’s highest degree of care for sick or premature infants.

Cancer Care

The Swedish Cancer Institute is the state’s largest cancer program, offering the region’s most extensive range of services and expertise. This includes nationally recognized physicians, advanced treatments and research, and a full range of complementary support programs.

Heart and Vascular Care

Nothing illustrates Swedish’s commitment to innovative cardiovascular care better than our newly remodeled, state-of-the-art cardiac facilities that feature the latest diagnostics and treatment technologies. Swedish brings together a wide range of specialists – including cardiac and vascular surgeons, cardiologists and interventional radiologists – to promote collaboration among experts.

Neurosciences

The Swedish Neuroscience Institute is dedicated to providing exceptional care to people with disorders of

the brain, spine and nervous system. Swedish offers a unique combination of medical expertise, innovative therapies, technologically advanced facilities and leading-edge research to diagnose and treat the full range of neurological disorders.

Orthopedics

Swedish has been at the forefront of orthopedic care since its founding, and today sees close to 11,000 orthopedic patients each year. And Swedish will continue to provide world-class orthopedic care well into the future with the addition of a new dedicated, $130 million, 372,000-square-foot facility. When completed in summer 2008, it will be the third-largest dedicated orthopedic facility in the country and the first of its kind in Washington state.

Surgery

Swedish was founded as a surgical hospital in 1910. Nearly a century later, surgery remains at the very core of the medical center. Swedish performs more surgeries than any other facility in the region, with 31,000 surgeries in 2006. Hundreds of highly skilled surgeons practice at Swedish, representing numerous pediatric specialties and virtually every adult specialty.
