MARKET WRAP

Silver slides 6 pct on Thursday

Oil down as much 3 pct in volatile trade

Copper recovers from 5-month low

LME stocks of aluminium at above 4.59 million tonnes

Gold under pressure as oil, silver, base metals slide

Dollar index hits three-week high

Silver fell 6 percent, coming under heavy selling pressure after the Shanghai Gold

Exchange lifted margin requirements on the precious metal. Copper bounced from a

five-month low to turn positive on Thursday as the dollar weakened but the metal still

looked fragile on fears of slower economic growth and demand from top consumers

China and the United States. Oil slipped 2 percent and base metals like copper and

aluminium declined.
