Highlights: Apr 30 – May 6, 2012

Tablet adoption is set to grow 40% by 2016 and tablet users conducting mobile banking is growing at twice the rate of non-tablet users. These trends underscore the need for banks and other firms with B2C commercial and commerce websites to continue to invest, according to Javelin Strategy & Research. 

While the laptop is still the preferred method by 66% for online shopping, smartphone and tablet devices have grown to be the favourite method of online shopping among 20% of online shoppers. Smartphones and tablets are driving both in-store and online commerce, but their roles are distinct in many ways. As a payment tool, both devices are still finding their way. Nielsen survey reports that 28 percent of tablet owners and 27 percent of smartphone users have used their devices for payment.
