The field of education in Pakistan is yet to come into its own as a professional field. The people associated with and working for the system of education need to be professionally competent, knowledgeable about the new trends and changes and, above all, alive to the demand of quality. Similarly, the programs of preparing teachers for schools need to be looked afresh, not only in respect of quality assurance, but also to meet the need to remain abreast of the ongoing but unprecedented expansion in the realm of knowledge.
