Katy ISD Extends Free Meals for Students

As the rebuilding process takes place in homes and neighborhoods across our district,

Katy ISD will continue to seek means to provide support to those affected by Harvey.

This week, Katy ISD was granted permission by the Texas Department of Agriculture

(TDA) to extend our free breakfast and lunch service to ALL Katy ISD students through

October 31.

This initiative was previously designated for the month of September. However, be-

cause so many Katy ISD families were impacted by the storm, and recovery efforts or

ongoing, we requested a program extension that was approved by the TDA.

Should you have any questions about the October free breakfast and lunch program,

please feel free to contact the Katy ISD Nutrition and Food Services Department at

(281) 396-6240.

6th grade Team Building Day-October 9

Monday, October 9th, our 6th grade students will be working on team build-

ing. Each student will be a part of a team, and they will work together to prob-

lem solve, communicate, and collaborate. Each team will work through 7 sta-

tions of fun activities which promote this learning experience.

Please remind your child that electronic devices will need to remain in their

bags during the team building activities. This is to ensure that students are not

on their devices while working through the stations, as well as keeping the de-

vices from being inadvertently lost in the building while the students are mov-

ing around.

We are looking forward to a wonderful, team building experience for our 6th grade students!

PTA News

#BobcatStrong

PTA has set up a meaningful tool to help connect those who have suffered loss

due to the Harvey disaster with those who want to help and donate.

The basic idea is like a wedding-registry, via Amazon wish lists. If your home,

office, or storage was affected, please take advantage of making a list- you

have no idea how many people have contacted us and want to help directly. As

a PTA we cannot accept cash or gift cards to distribute, but we can help make

it a little easier (and anonymous if needed) for you to get some help putting

your home back together!

The details of this Harvey Relief help is explained in full on our

Bobcat Harvey Relief web page.

BOX TOPS FOR SCHOOLS Remember to clip and send them with your kiddos! This is FREE MONEY for our

school! The collection box is now in the front office reception on the bookshelves.

Thanks!

Student iPad Checkout

Katy ISD is excited to provide the opportunity for our students to take home a digital device for learning.

A student can check out an iPad to use for a school assignment for a one week period, excluding the

Winter and Spring Breaks. If a student needs WiFi access, a “Hot Spot” is also available for checkout for

a five day period. The student’s parent or legal guardian must first meet with the assistant principal to

review the KISD Student/Parent Equipment Use Agreement and sign it along with the student. This docu-

ment will be kept on file for the current school year. The student will be instructed on proper use and

care of the borrowed equipment. Please call the school at 281-237-8000 to set up an appointment.

Los estudiantes serán in-

struidos sobre el uso correcto y cuidado del equipo prestado. Por favor llame a la escuela en el 281-

237-8000 para programar una cita.
