Theatre Arts students took a tour February 28th to some of Evansville’s finest “architectural” secrets. The trip

office building was once a warehouse that was transformed into office spaces.

Next, the trip proceeded onto cMOE where students watched a presentation of the renovation of the Art Deco

building and participated in an Artitude lesson learning about Art Deco architecture. Students also participated in

a scavenger hunt to locate Art Deco artifacts throughout the museum.

The last stop of the day was the Evansville Museum. Students were introduced to the renovations of the

Pioneer Pride in Action

Congratulations to McGary PTSA for earning the PTSA “Certificate of Excellence” award at the regional awards

banquet in February as well as exceeding our membership from last year by 10% and having 100% teacher

participation!!!

Our staff and students have put together 200 plus comfort and hygiene bags so far this year for the children and

adults that have to utilize Holly’s House.

Our students have made trail mix for the families staying at The Ronald McDonald House so that they may

have a fast and healthy snack that they can grab on the way out the door to St. Mary’s to visit their loved one or

when they are in need of a pick me up upon return from the hospital. Our students have also made “sock inch

worms” to give to the children at the Ronald McDonald House.

Our NJHS and student Council go every second Tuesday of the month to play Bingo with the residents of

Horizon Homes.

The billboard displaying the art work created to advertise the Spring play “Finding Our Way To Holly’s House”

by Melody Weiner has been up for a while. If you haven’t seen it, check it out on Covert Ave. near McDonalds.

We are half way to our goal of the amount of plastic caps needed to make another bench for our school. We are

hoping to be able to have it by summer. Please encourage your student to bring in all of your plastic caps for this

worthy cause.

We will have a Pennies for Patients Drive in April. The student council will lead this fundraiser and it is sure

to be a great homeroom competition.

The Global Youth work day is in April as well. Students who choose to be a part of this group project will clean

up the area around our school and neighborhoods on the chosen Saturday for a couple of hours and then be treated

to lunch, giveaways, games and rides at the YMCA afterward. Twenty McGary students participated last year and

had alot of fun.

Bits and Bites to Keep You in the Know at McGary

Wanna Help Out??

homes value. EVERY McGary family household qualifies for the free home energy assessment!! If your child

receives free or reduced lunch, your home qualifies for an Income Qualified Weatherization for free as well.

For each assessment or weatherization performed, McGary will receive $25 to be used toward student’s needs

within our school.

Enrollment forms have been sent home with students and there is also one attached to this newsletter.

If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Mullen at 476-3035.
