Process Going Forward

• MCA investigation and due diligence – complete. • Communication with MCA members. • MCA Board of Directors formal voted January 20, 2015. • A3 Board of Directors will vote January 23, 2015. • Transition team to develop implementation timeline including

legal, accounting, branding/marketing, website work, etc. • Possible spring 2015 MCMA launch.

• Initial MCMA Board = half MCA and half SMMA Board members for equal representation.

• No change to membership dues for MCA members. (Some companies may see a slight decrease. Dual members will pay only one fee in 2016.

• No change to 2015 annual conferences for MCA or SMMA. 2016 going forward, one combined Business Forum and one Fall Technical Conference

• No change to EMERF or PMD (they will simply become a part of the new MCMA).

• Increasing the application and use of Motion control technology is central to MCA’s mission – Higher level of competence in our industry will lead to an

increased adoption of Motion Control technology. • Current state of education in our industry

– No accepted industry-standard for education – Basic knowledge required by our employees and customers is

similar, and most member companies are developing and deploying their own training for these basic topics.

• An MCA Education Program would provide value to both member companies and our customers.

Education & Certification Vision

• A multi-tiered education and qualification program. – Increase in depth and complexity over a period of time – Ultimate goal of creating recognized masters in the field.

• Initial step will be a course and exam structure designed to create basic competence in individuals who have a prerequisite engineering background

• The education committee has developed a syllabus for the first phase of the program

• Course will be developed as online modules – Each module will consist of a 30-60 minute video of a Subject

Matter Expert delivering a presentation in a classroom setting – Final program will be 16-20 hours of online instruction

• Online quizzing to assess and encourage progress • Final proctored exam at completion

which will benefit them as well as the greater community – Provides a way of demonstrating an organization’s talent and

knowledge to a broader audience of prospective customers or employees.
