Article 1.

 Name of Organization

The name of this organization is McKids of Duke University and referred to as McKids

for areviation !ithin the Duke "ommunity.

$ur%ose and O&ectives

The %ur%ose of McKids is to su%%ort the 'onald McDonald (ouse Organization !ith an

em%hasis on the 'onald McDonald (ouse of Durham. McKids !ill achieve this %ur%ose

 %rimarily y t!o means)

*+etting u% volunteer o%%ortunities for students as !ell as recruiting students from DukeUniversity to volunteer on a t!ice !eekly asis. These volunteer events include ingo

night, arts and crafts night, cooking dinner for the house, etc.*-undraising for the 'onald McDonald (ouse of Durham so that they are ale to oth

continue to su%%ort themselves and also so they can achieve their mission of uilding a

second larger house. A larger house is necessary to accommodate a greater numer of %atients and their families.

Memershi% and +tructure

Memershi% in this organization is o%en to anyone !ho !ishes to contriute and ecomean official memer of the organization. (o!ever, it is %rimarily geared to!ards the Dukeundergraduate student ody. To maintain memershi%, one must %artici%ate in one event a

semester.

The /0ecutive oard consists of the follo!ing %ositions) $resident, 2ice $resident,

Treasurer, +ecretary, -undraising "hair, Marketing "hair, 2olunteer "hair, "ommunity

'elations "hair, -undraising Assistant, Marketing Assistant, and 2olunteer Assistant. The

ne! oard e0cluding the three assistants !ill e selected y the graduating outgoingofficers or officers not re*running for ne! %ositions in the end of the s%ring semester. The

 %rocess !ill consist of an a%%lication and intervie!. The three assistants !ill e selected

in the eginning of the fall semester y the ne! oard using !ritten a%%lications. Allofficers !ill serve for one full school year.

Article 3.Duties of Memers

1. The duties of the %resident are)

• To call and %reside over general ody meetings.

• To coordinate and !ork !ith the directors at the 'onald McDonald (ouse of

Durham.

• To serve on the "ommunity Advocacy oard and the Develo%ment "ommittee of

the 'onald McDonald (ouse

#. The duties of the 2ice*$resident are)

• To call and %reside over general ody meetings in the asence of the %resident.

• To call and %reside over e0ecutive meetings in the asence of the %resident.

• To assist any of the three chairs !ith larger %ro&ects !hen hel% is needed.

• To serve on the "ommunity Advocacy oard and the Develo%ment "ommittee of

the 'onald McDonald (ouse !hen the %resident is unale.

. The duties of the +ecretary are)

To take minutes at e0ecutive oard meetings and send them to the general odyand %ost them on Duke 4rou%s archives.

• +end e*mails to the general ody to inform them of any ne! %ro&ects5 %rogress.

• Take attendance at e0ecutive committee meetings.

3. The duties of the -undraising "hair5 -undraising "hair Assistant are)

• To coordinate and attend meetings !ith the directors of the 'onald McDonald

(ouse regarding the s%ring food %oints fundraiser.

• To head the fundraising committee.

• To %lan any other fundraising activities.

• To solicit "ommunity or "or%orate donations.

6. The duties of the Marketing "hair5 Marketing "hair Assistant are)

• To organize marketing efforts for the McKids grou%.

• To organize marketing efforts for the s%ring food %oints cam%aign.

• To maintain the McKids !esite5-aceook grou%s for donating food %oints.

7. The duties of the 2olunteer "hair5 2olunteer "hair Assistant are)

• To set u% volunteer slots for !eekly activities at the 'onald McDonald (ouse of

Durham.

• To send reminder emails to %artici%ants.

• To arrange other service events for general ody memers.8. The duties of the "ommunity 'elations "hair are)

• 9ork !ith outside vendors and com%anies to ac:uire matching or donations

and5or solicit (ouse su%%ort.

=. The duties of the Treasurer are)

• Undergo financial training and e kno!ledgeale aout +O-", D+4, and mini

grant monies.

• Otain5monitor fund code re%orts as necessary.

• $ay5reimurse for McKids %urchases and contracts !ith other %ersons5grou%s.

Article 7.Meetings

1. 4eneral ody Meetings !ill e held at the discretion of the e0ecutive oard once amonth.

#. /0ecutive oard Meeting dates !ill e decided u%on y the e0ecutive oard. A regular

time should e estalished i*monthly for -all +emester and !eekly for +%ring +emester.

Article 8.

Amendments5 'atification

1. Any memer of the e0ecutive oard may %ro%ose an amendment to the constitution,

!hich shall e %resented at the ne0t scheduled e0ecutive oard meeting. Amendments

!ill e a%%roved !ith #5 of the ma&ority vote.#. 'atification re:uires a%%roval y all memers of the current e0ecutive oard.
