    3. MBA Programme The EBS MBA Programme is a long-established and highly successful programme and,in 2003, the distance-learning route was ranked as, and continues to be, the secondlargest in the world. The EBS MBA Programme is a demanding and broad-basedmanagement degree It enables students to gain core knowledge of subjectsfundamental to management, develop analytical skills which are indispensable inproblem solving and decision making, understand the process of management andhuman behaviour in organisations, and gain insights into the changing business, economic, social and political environments which affect the commercial world.

Student NumbersThe effectiveness of the EBS MBA Programme is demonstrated by its success. Todate, some 12,000 students have graduated from the MBA from 150 countries making itone of the worlds largest international MBA programmes. All students, no matter whichmode of study they pursue, must pass the same examinations and there is nodifference in standards amongst the different modes.

Self-studyThe EBS MBA Programme is based on the principle that individuals learn in differentways. In order to make it possible for students to achieve the MBA who did not wish to,or could not, attend campus the self-study course texts were developed containing thelearning resources necessary to succeed.

Today, t he course texts are augmented by the Edinburgh Business School CourseWebsite . This allows you to post questions to the Faculty through the Faculty WebBoard and access case studies and past papers. The interactive Profiler software alsoallows you to check your exam readiness by monitoring your performance in thequestions at the end of each module. In addition, you have access to both PDF andHTML versions of the course text that make it very easy to search.

You can register for exams, defer exam entries, notify us of any change of details andaccess your exam results with speed and security through our Student Services website. We find this enhanced learning experience reduces the sense of isolation feltby some distance learning students.

On-campusOther study routes include the full-time and (part-time) executive on-campusprogrammes at EBS. Students learn using the course materials and course websitesand receive tuition support from EBS Faculty. Teaching time is devoted to the valueadded application of real life situations and case studies/simulations.

In addition to the full-time or executive programmes, it is possible for self-study studentsto attend intensive four-day seminars or two-day revision sessions. Attendance is not

Typically, a maximum of one exemption is granted for an undergraduate degreemajoring in a subject relevant to one of EBS MBA courses; for example, a bachelor'sdegree in economics may lead to an exemption from the Economics course.Professional qualifications, obtained by examination within 5 years of application, mayalso lead to exemptions. For example, membership of the Chartered Institute ofMarketing, qualifies a student to be granted an exemption from the marketing course.

Eligibility for exemption is based on academic achievement only, not on workexperience. If you wish to apply for an exemption you should download and completethe Exemption Application form and send it with supporting documentation and requiredfee to Edinburgh Business School, the sole authority on this matter.
