AUTUMN 1 NEWSLETTER – ISSUE 1 19 OCTOBER 2018 The Mayor officially opens Edison! Message from Mrs Dokal A very warm welcome back to everyone, and a big welcome to all our new parents. We are very excited about the year ahead in our new building. The children have come back to school with lots of enthusiasm and I am enjoying getting to know all our new Reception children and parents. It has also been great to meet you on the playground in the mornings and after school. We rely on parents and carers to support the school in echoing our high expectations for learning and behaviour. I would be grateful if you could continue to support us on achieving this. I am confident that 2018-19 will be another successful year and look forward to meeting you at various events throughout the school year. Mayor Visits Edison We were very privileged to have the Mayor of Hounslow Samia Chaudhary visit our school, along with other dignatories from the council. She officially opened Edison on behalf of the council, with a ribbon cutting ceremony acompanied by some of our Reception children. In July 2018, we waved goodbye to our old temporary classrooms as we made way for our lovely new building. The building work moved on so quickly; we really enjoyed watching it take shape. The school building has beautiful spacious classrooms, two science rooms, a studio for our breakfast and after school clubs, a library, two halls (where lunch is served from our “in house” kitchen). Our Reception classes comprises of large classrooms with excellent outdoor facilities attached. Outside, there is a large tarmac play area, football pitches, our Thomas Trail, as well as ground markings. The children love playtimes now. With all our initial teething problems we are pleased to say that we have now comfortably settled into our lovely new building. We hope you like it too!

AUTUMN 1 NEWSLETTER – ISSUE 1 19 OCTOBER 2018

The Mayor had a fabulous tour of all the school!

Halloween Dress Up Day

The children thoroughly enjoyed the

dress up day! It was so lovely to see so

many spooky costumes. The children

also had an amazing time at the class

disco in our lovely new hall. They even

had a fabulous, special Halloween lunch

that was provided by our fantastic

caterers Wilson & Jones. The children

had their photographs taken in a

spectacular Halloween set up, created

by a group of our parents. See photos

that we are sending in today’s email.

Wilson Jones Catering We are delighted to inform you we have now added the school dinners module to Scopay (the online

parent pay system).

This means that you will be able to select your child's meal choice two weeks in advance. All meals

are FREE to pupils up to the end of Year 2. If you do not select a meal choice for your child, then

please note that the school will pick their dietary requirement meal for them.

To choose your child's meal choices for the week commencing Tuesday 30th October you will need

to log on to www.scopay/school and continue to the meal choices option. Here you will only be able

to select meals from 14 days in advance, this is due to reporting the required

numbers to the Kitchen. However as this is a new system, we have shortened the time period and you

will still be able to pick your choice up to 5 days in advance. You must make your selections by

Thursday 25th October for this to take effect for the first day back at school.
