ROGERS PARK -- Col. Jennifer Pritzker, the owner and developer of Rogers Park's Mayne Stagetheater, is proposing to scrap a mostly empty stretch of strip mall to make way for a new eight-storyresidential development with 75 parking spaces, according to Ald. Joe Moore (49th).

Formerly, that area of 1313 W. Morse Ave. housed a laundromat, cellphone and video stores, but haslong remained vacant.

Now Pritzker's Tawani Enterprises, also the developer behind 1340 W. Morse Ave., is asking to re-zone the land to allow for a taller building with more apartments than what city code currentlyallows.

Under a new zoning classification, developers could build the 83-foot-tall, 50-unit building they'reproposing -- the top five floors of which would be apartments, with the first three being dedicated toshared parking between residents (25 spots) and Mayne Stage patrons (50 spots), Moore said in anemail to residents.

On Wednesday, Moore will hold a community meeting at Mayne Stage, 1330 W. Morse Ave., withSean McGowan of Tawani, as well as Tawani's lawyer, Andrew Scott.
