May WELCOME BACK

16
May 2020 Friendship Express www.arncliffew-p.schools.nsw.edu.au WELCOME BACK We have all had a very challenging and stressful Term 2 with most of us in lock down to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. This strategy seems to have worked for Australia with our infection rate the envy of the world. Even though the virus has not been eradicated we are determined to keep it under control through hand washing and social distancing. Thank you to parents and carers for your co-operation with the new procedures at school. Hopefully by next term we will be able to invite you back to assemblies and dancing but in the meantime we are still handing out awards and continuing to dance. Please remember social distancing whilst on school grounds. It has been wonderful to have the students back full time and are happy to be back with their teachers. Everyone is to be commended for deploying learning from home during the lockdown. The teachers are placing a renewed emphasis on technology skills so that students are more proficient with online learning for homework. This term we will be reducing syllabus content to focus on literacy and numeracy outcomes. Teachers will be assessing their students and ensuring that no-one gets left behind. Usually there is a report to parents at the end of Term 2, however, this year the report will delivered at the end of August and reflect our focus on core subjects. Hopefully by then, the parent teacher interviews will be able to happen in person. In the meantime if you have any concerns please email the teacher and arrange a time to talk over the phone. There are some exciting changes in the pipeline with new playground equipment being installed over the July holidays in the preschool and plans are underway for landscaping to be undertaken on our south campus currently occupied by Violet and Aqua. While everyone else was in lockdown the landscapers and gardeners were hard at work rejuvenating our school grounds. This work is continuing but so far the results are fantastic. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful school to work and play. We have welcomed a new music teacher to AWIS, Miss McCoy who is currently replacing Mrs De Lore. We are planning an ongoing role for Miss McCoy but are looking forward to Mrs De Lores return. We also have a new daytime cleaner, Joseph, who is helping to keep our school safe. Vanda Quinn Principal Term 2 ends: Friday 03.07.2020 Term 3 begins: Tuesday 21.07.2020

are determined to keep it under control through hand washing and social distancing.

Thank you to parents and carers for your co-operation with the new procedures at school. Hopefully by next term we will be able to invite you back to assemblies and dancing but in the

meantime we are still handing out awards and continuing to dance. Please remember social distancing whilst on school grounds.
