MCCC has SO many fun things coming up!!!
Mark your calendars for May 20 for the Covington Car Show on the
Square! This show will not only have trophies like all MCCC shows, but
there will be cash drawings! And, ladies, you will love this: the Square
has the quaintest little shops! There are 5 restaurants on the square or
just a very short walk away: Danno’s Grill, Old Town Hall Tea Room,
Milano’s Pizza, Court Square Café, and Wyatt Earp’s Steakhouse. There
will be 2 food trucks. One is a hot dog, hand dipped corn dog, and ham-
burger truck. The other is a taco truck from El Toro Taco in Millington.
The square will be blocked off and only the show vehicles will be parked
there. If you bring a canopy, be sure to secure it well!
Then!!!
On Saturday June 3rd, NASCAR will be back at the Memphis
International Raceway!!! The K&N Series will be there! MCCC will be
selling tickets at $20 per person. If you buy your ticket from us, you will
have the opportunity to bring your classic car and park it trackside in
turn 4 for a show ‘n shine! With your $20pp purchase you will get a
hangtag that lets you in the gate, up the hill, and trackside!

We have the incredible privilege of touring Don Baskin’s Car Museum in
Covington! On Saturday, June 17, MCCC members can cruise to
Covington and spend a couple of hours checking out over 300 fabulous
vehicles. We will leave from there and head west to Lost In The 50’s for
lunch. You won’t want to miss this outing! Watch for details!

Completely Factory Original Except Hood & Mufflers
Second Owner
Lauren is the daughter of Burt & Lynn Milam. She got her ‘02 in April, 2008 after her freshman year at UT
Knoxville. She specifically wanted this car because it was a 5-speed!
It has been driven in several in several Hot Rod Power Tours, including a long-haul in 2013 from Arlington,
Texas to Charlotte, North Carolina.
You might be wondering why we would feature this particular car in this month’s Bowtie
Buzz. Here’s the story: In September, 2012, Lauren suddenly and unexpectedly passed
away at 23 years old. She had recently moved to the Dallas area, had found a new job,
and was about to move into an apartment. She had been dealing with severe, chronic
migraines for several years. She had found a new neurologist who convinced her to have
Botox injections, a relatively new procedure for migraines. She had them on Friday, with
a few side effects, but was headache free for the first time in 3 1/2 years on Saturday.
They found her early Monday morning, still sitting up crossed-legged in bed writing her
Walmart list for the new apartment, the pen still in her hand, slumped forward. Gone. It
was the worst phone call we have ever received. That being said, God was so merciful in
how He allowed it to happen. She had been away several months and we had acclimated to her being gone. We didn’t have find her.
She didn’t have a horrible disease. She wasn’t abducted. She didn’t go missing. It wasn’t a horrible accident. We know that she had
received Christ as her Lord and Savior. There were people at her funeral that would otherwise never darken a church door. THEY
heard the gospel and were given an opportunity to say a prayer of salvation. We don’t understand why it happened or why He chose
to take her when He did. But we know that she is in Heaven with Him. But we trust that He is using this experience for His glory. We
may never know His plan this side of Glory, but that’s ok. She’s no longer in pain. And she’s walking the streets of gold with the saints!
