April Meeting & Annual AGM The April lunchtime meeting we held our AGM and elected the new committee for 2017/18 pony club year. I would like to say a massive thank you to Anna Cameron for all of her years as our DC, she has left a massive gap to fill and this is evident with the creation of the Chief Instructor (CI) role but she has not gone far – thank you for taking on the role of Zone Delegate. A big thank you Lisa, Diana, Gregg for carrying on in their executive committee positions and welcome to Mel Mackenzie as our new secretary. We have our new givers of news – website is maintained by Chrissy Ortner and newsletters are handled by Kellie Sanders. Kim McCall is our new fashion coordinator and in charge of uniforms. Welcome to our head chef Mel Roncali – I can’t wait for lunch. Sue Riddle has acquired a new role of purchasing – let’s go shopping!! And a massive thanks to the members who continued in their roles: Janet Thompson – Key Secretary, Mel Myzska - Zone Delegate, Dale Thompson – Emergency Cocodinator and our amazing maintenance crew headed by Brian Voigt, supported by Steve Wollington. Without the continued support of people like these and our dedicated families our club wouldn’t be as successful as it is today. I would like to also mention that the very important role of FUNDRAISING failed to be filled at the AMG so we will bring the opportunity to the lunchtime meeting for a nomination and vote.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the lucky pony club mum’s who didn’t have to get up early, we hope you enjoyed a great sleep in. Thank you for everyone who came to the unmounted April rally, it seems that everyone got the memo as not one horse turned up, thank you. We certainly achieved a lot with our certificate books and catch up with our friends Libby Cameron has accepted the election as our Chief Instructor (CI) and I as your DC, we will work together in the shared role of rally planning, instructor liaison, grading and general DC duties. Libby & I are super excited and are really looking forward to this year, we’ve got some mighty shoes to fill and some fun plans ahead. All committee contact details are listed on the website & newsletter - please keep an eye out for emails in your junk mail box as the committee have new addresses all ending with the new domain name “@doongalaponyclub.com.au”
C Certificate Testing C Certificate candidates will be doing their testing on Saturday at Dandenong Ranges pony club – good luck Jess C., Tayla, Shaylie, Gemma C. and Jessica S. we hope the sun shines on you and we look forward to hearing about it on Sunday. The last C Certificate date for 2017 is October 21st.
Mini Tooradin Horse Trials is next Sunday 28th of May Grade 3 composite – Keely taking Apache Knee on her maiden HT voyage, fingers crossed. Grade 5 individuals - Gemma M, Tash, Hamish & Bella, for some this may be their last grade 5 HT. Look out for our grade 4 team Doongala Dazzlers - Jess C, Shaylie, Gemma C. with Hailey on her debut HT ride at this level. Good luck everyone!!
Working Bee May 7th We had a fantastic turnout of over 30 people – TERIFFIC EFFORT!! You will notice how wonderful the grounds are looking as we prepare for the soggy weather ahead. Thank you Brian for organising and conducting such a successful day.
Doongala PC Dressage Day June 18th Our annual dressage day will be a big one, with the new sealed car park we will be able to supply greater parking whatever weather we may have. Please keep this weekend free for set as it is a major fundraiser for the club which helps subsidise fees and improve facilities. And of course we will need all hands on deck to assist run this event, I will be filling out the rosters after the lunchtime meeting. July Rally. If you are not renewing your membership and have got a key to the grounds, could you please see Janet Thompson and she can arrange a refund for the return of the key.

Out & About
Gemma M. & Clover had a wonderful day at Officer Pony Club Combined Training Day coming
equal 5th in dressage and equal 8th overall after a faultless SJ round.
Rachel and Phoenix have been busy competing at Wandin International- Yeringberg and
Tintern Horse Trials Grade 2.

Ollie and I had our first competition at Tintern
Grammar Inter school horse trials.
We learnt a lot and did well in the dressage
(stressage) but we got lost on the cross country
course and missed a few jumps so we got eliminated.
But the next day in show jumping we did way better
and got a clear round!

This was my first interschool’s competition & my first experience with EA!
It was a really fantastic experience for not only me but also my pony Lou. I had a pretty good
dressage test and surprisingly came =1st.
In cross country I had one runout but I was still really happy considering it was our first
time on this course at Wandin.
Show jumping was a smooth course. I finished 11th which I was really happy with! All in all I had
a really great day and I recommend that everyone should give it a go!
